    Hey everyone,
I just spent hours upon hours trying to figure this out, but I finally got my S4 MK2 to work. I'm running Windows 10. So here's my story:

I just bought a second-hand S4 MK2 and I plugged it in and started mixing with it just fine (I already had an S2 and Traktor Pro 2). In the middle of mixing, I got a notification to install a windows update. So I installed the update and after my computer restarted, no buttons lit up on the S4 when Traktor started and it wasn't functional. I restarted the program and no change. I checked the Asio configurations and it recognized that the S4 was connected (It read, "Interface connected") however when I tried to recalibrate anything it said no device was found. I should mention my orange light responded correctly when I plugged it in. I scoured countless threads and forum posts and tried everything. I checked my USB ports, updated drivers, reinstalled Traktor multiple times. Uninstalled it completely and used the Native Instruments reg cleaner. Nothing worked. I installed Traktor 2 Pro on my school laptop and it recognized the S4, no problem, so I knew it wasn't the S4. That stupid fricking Windows update was in the back of my mind the entire time, but nowhere in any forum I found mention that a Windows Update could cause a problem. I decided to finally uninstall the most recent updates from 12 Feb 2019. I had 4 of them with 1 being a flash update, 2 Microsoft security updates, and 1 Microsoft Update. I tried to uninstall all of them but the Microsoft Update was the only one that actually stay deleted. The 2 security updates that remain after trying to uninstall them all are: (KB4471324) and (KB4485449). I think the deleted one may be (KB4100347) from my history but I am not sure. After I uninstalled them, I rebooted my computer and started up Traktor with the S4 plugged in. IT FRICKING WORKED!

I posted this hoping to save even just 1 person the amount of time I spent going crazy trying to fix this issue. Hope it helps!

Mate, you are a life-saver. I had the same problem and have been pulling my hair out. Uninstalled and re-installed everything. Deleted all updates from Feb 12th and it is working as normal.
thank you! now i can go to bed and sleep.

Uninstalling KB4100347 didn't fix it for me :(

edit: uninstalling KB4487044 fixes it until the update gets re-installed

Not only Win10 but also Windows 7 is affected too. I've removed KB4486563 (16 Feb) and fixed it (Win7 Pro 64bit).

I'm glad this helped you guys out! I forgot I had posted and just remembered so it's cool to see NI is addressing it and working on the issue. They detail how to pause updates so you're not stuck at a gig, updating your goddamn laptop.
