    Hi all,

Some reports are saying the S4 mk3 has been added. I tried today and it didn't work, unless I'm missing something.

    No, it's the S4 MK2.

    Support for legacy controllers:

Traktor DJ 2 now works with the previous generation of controllers:
    • Kontrol S2 mk2
    • Kontrol S4 mk2
    • Kontrol Z1 (Play button now enabled)
    Kontrol Z1 mapping notes:
    • Play a deck by hitting MODE + CUE (A or B)
    • The play state each deck will be shown on it’s corresponding CUE button when MODE is pressed

I still find it unfathomable that NI still hasn't added TDJ 2 support for the S4 MK3. It's the flagship product - NI are limiting our creative use of it by not allowing TDJ 2 usage.

Have we even been given a reason as to why, yet? It is ridiculous.

AT LEAST MAKE TDJ2 WORK WITH WINDOWS. SCREW THE IPAD AND EVEN ANDRIOD VERSION FOR S4 MK3. I DON'T CARE ANYMORE.
SOME OF US WANT TO USE STREAMING FOR FUN, YA BASTARDS.
NI TOTALLY RUINED MY RETURN TO DJING. WANTED STREAMING AND TRAKTOR.
PIONEER, DENON AND EVEN RELOOP ARE RUNNING AWAY WITH THE FUTURE.

It's probably related to motorised platters.

this statement makes no sense for me at all !! (it is stated so often but it is still wrong IMHO): .. if NI would like to support they could (on existing S4mk3). Using the original Apple certified Camera Connectivity Kit - CCK has this chip inside .. so S4MK3 must only work as a midi class compliant device and we could connect them via usb to CCK (instead using the prorietary NI cable).

So it IS possible without adding any apple chip inside S4 !!, its a question of firmware (inside S4) and the missed midi protocol in TDJ only. Other vendor present that this is possible (without any chip inside controller, the CCK is the must have only): E.g. DJPP on iOS support any midi class compliant controller (without apple chips inside .. and to make complete: if S4mk3 would speak midi it could even be mapped in DJPP via CCK .. and in TDJ if TDJ would support midi protocol) ;)

Not sure if the same chip but I was pointing that motorised platters maybe have some kind of extra requeriments (aside energy) that makes it harder to implement without dedicated code (aka HID).
The same for screens on S8/D2/maschine... but I will love to be wrong and NI make all these class compliant...

yes i totally agree, i also think your raised issue (motorized platter + maybe the LED display too) is maybe the real reason..they do not want to move from HID to midi .. my bullet was more mentioned to the "NI" argument with the chip .. i do not know why they argue like this !?! as it still seems to be wrong. And even if the motorized details or LED display would not work (in midi) it would be great to have S4mk3 supported in TDJ2, right ?

Your point makes much sense for me.

Yeah for sure, just clarifying and hoping someone bring us more light into this (until someone release class compliant alternative to these controllers  )
