S4 suggestions/requests

Hi,

i have just purchased S4 (last week). I have already tested it in a club and find it very joyful to use. Tho here are some things i wish NI would consider fixing/improving hardware and software wise:

BPM counter/sync ( Traktor S4 software)

- there should be an x2 tempo (double tempo) button. Traktor is pretty bad in guessing is the track at halftempo (example 70BPM vs 140BPM), so an x2 button would be helpful.

- the most importan function that is missing since Traktor 1.x days is to sync halftempo track with fulltempo considering they are in close range not far range of BPM. Example, lets say u have 72BPM track (which is actually 144BPM track but Traktor's BPM analysis failed to realise it) and u have and 138BPM track, when u press sync (if the 72BPM track is the master one) 138BPM track will go all the way down to 72BPM. instead going to 144BPM. I repeat once more, Traktor 1.x was great at this! Please bring back this function. It's really frustrating.

- is there a way for deck C n D to have full view of the track (not mini view)? like on deck A n B?

- i had strange problem when loading track that was on network. Traktor didn't warned me that it's not available anymore it just got frozen while loading. That didn't happend with older versions of traktor (usually those missing tracks would be in red and unloadable?)


Hardware kontroler

- in poorly lited club, FX knobs are really hard to use. In next version of S4, u should consider putting some led lights on those knobs too.

- why not try to use different colors for FX1 n FX2? much easier to check what FX is on. Also why not have multicolor led options? example, when reverb is on, light is blue, when distortion is on it's red, when filter is on then green etc. Just think about it, much easier for DJs to have visual feedback with colors.

- i have macbook pro late 2007 model (Santa Rosa) and i can't power up Kontroler via it's USB port, so i have to use power adapter. One more cable to carry ;/

- tho i don't have anything against balanced 1/4 jacks, i would prefer XLRs, but thats not a big issue


i am really enjoying using it and i am thankful NI finally provided allinone solution for DJs. Knewing how NI takes care of details and functionality i know they will improve it even more ;-)

Maybe Im just little cranky cos its monday morning... but:

* If youd had read the manual u´d know that there´s a way to use C and D decks as full

* Youd also know that there is a X2 button in the grid section... its just not always there on the screen depending on your layout, but shows for example at the factory layout S4 Extended

* And would you remember all those 20 something different colors by the memory if every effect would have its own color? that would mean 3 different shades with every most common color?

* And if u use only usb-power all the buttons and leds are only some small part at their full power... so thats one thing that makes it more hard to see.

re USB power: it's an apple problem. Eg I can't charge ipad at full power. Apple messed up USB hub in older macbookpros, so it was more rant about apple than NI. Tho i got clicks n pops without ext power supply on S4.

re LEDS: i didn't say 20 colors. 3-4 colors would be ok, but more important lighting on the FX knobs (so u can c position of the knob) would be helpful in low light conditions.

re X2 button: haven't seen it tnx!

re deck layout: i only have small n micro as an view option for deck C n D, can't all 4 decks be @ full?

If you set deck c or d to sample deck you have only small and micro, even when the neighbour deck is set to track deck.

 

thanx rainerh...that was the problem, since i use 3 decks + sample deck. and wanted to have deck C full too...seems thats not possible

has anyone noticed that Gater FX when turned on and there is no audible audio signal feeding it gates white noise like sound? Is this normal?
