S4 with MAC VS PC

Would anyone recommend S4 running on with OS or Windows 7 ?

 

My Answer is Refer Only For TRAKTOR PRO S4 only

.. No... Coz New Traktor Software (s4) have a new midi engine then Midi Devicewill not effect your Audio Signal...(justlike a Send Monitor State Will not Effect Traktor...yes ..I already tested this thing)
I tell only new thing in Traktor s4 that I know...
1.New Midi Output .... since TSP have a Super midi Function .. then...S4 software(surely in Traktor Pro 2)....this time NI make the best thing ... more Best
2.FX unit---I feellike It's have a new signal Flow (inside Software it self)
3.some midi output command have more smart...

I tested the 2 alternatives, PC and MAC to me is MAC is more reliable

 

I have played with both using TPS4 and I prefer Mac. Windows 7 gave me a few issues.

i havent tried both but after some fine tuning laptop pc is running smoothly(no problems at all).
i have an total latency of 5,1 and will try less soon. using touch screen on my laptop gives me more option again, there still isnt an touch screen macbook, and actually when i bought my i7 laptop there wasnt any i7 macbook out yet!(and it still costed me half the core 2 duo macbook.thats about year a go)
if you have 850 to spend between
laptop i7 8 gb ati 1 gb harddrive 1 tb and touch screen or macbook core2 duo 2gb and some grafik card
which one would you have chosen?
mac is good and easier for software makers to program for but apples milking out policy of its customers is absolutly rubbish!
which is why i would never go mac unless i would have no other choice!(like using protools)

 

having tried a few setups... my preffered is this:

lenovo thinkpad t61 (core2duo 2 ghz, 2gb ram), winXP PRO SP3 (latest updates)

works out the box, super smooth. no special tweaks or whatever. no cracks/pops/dropouts whatsoever (with tons of other apps in background! even chatting on msn/facebook). latency down to 4ms. lowest buffer settings, 48khz.

as you can see, this isn't a super special laptop, but works AMAZINGLY. i wish my VAIO worked nearly as well as this...

 

I play my S4 on Windows 7 64bit on my custom built PC.

I also use the WDM driver as the windows default sound card.

So far no crackles or pops while running Traktor 1.0.1.

Did get some playing Black Ops, but I blame the game for that, it's buggy as hell

 

Gig at least once a week using my windows 7 laptop and S4.

 

how do you do that? i have a samsung notebook with a core2duo 2ghz and 2gb ram, winXP SP3 too... it`s very tidy and latency check shows only greens bars.

my s4 works but the cpu load is up to 40 - 70% when i play with 2 decks and sometimes ( i think every hour) i get tiny crakcs/dropouts...

oh ya, and i must play with 512 samplebuffer with over 12ms latency

 

it might be you have less ram and processing power.
try exit any program you have on start up that you dont use while playing like antivirus virtuell drivers ......

 

my startup is clean (only windows services)... and, as i said, i have the same CPU und RAM power!

 

it could be other parts like mother board the kind of ram 666mhz 800 1333mhz it all effectes the result. and even core 2 duo 2mhz there are different modules of it with different cache memory on which is very important for video/audio processing the more cache the better it will run.
have u defraget the harddrives, it helps as well.
you should be able to get it around 10 with some tweaking i believe.
open task manager and check the aplication runing , i found stuff there i wouldnt use so i disabled them.

 

I had problems running S4 on my Win 7 laptop as well. I went through all of the suggested fixes and still had audio drop outs. Made the switch to a MB Pro. All good.

 

I hate to say that but i think as crjameson just said, macbook is the better choice...

I mean, my S4 works on my Samsung Notebook but the CPU load is up to 40-70% ... i think it`s not good if you are going to use the S4 frequently... Believe me, my Windows startup and my whole system is clean! I did everything i read in PDFs or in this forum!

By now i stick to my Samsung but i think i´m going to switch to mac someday... its more stable... THATS ALL!
