    Good day all,

As you can see I made the subject line a question. And here is the actual question, is there a way possible to use the s8 in another platform other than Traktor? I have 2 other setups and they are Denon DJ. Well, it was a no brainer on picking a streaming service to utilize. Unfortunately Tidal doesn't work with Traktor. So if there is a way to use another platform for my s8, the help would be much appreciated.

    Short answer: No.
Long answer: You will need very high hacking knowledge to get a so-so workflow in no one land...

What are you trying to achieve?
If you need screens go for dashboard or something like numark nv, etc...
If you need that inside a mixer then the new rane/pioneer ones.
If you need pads and faders... dunno what Serato offers for that ATM (anyone can join and share thoughts?)

Serato hasn’t stems or remix decks (flip is similar but not exactly the same) which were the reason behind S8...

Not trying to discourage you, just setting a background for “why nobody think on it before” and curious about what workflow you expect since it could be interesting. Into my mind only cam The Bridge (S8 could have been the perfect mixer for that) but that ship departured long ago...

    Good day Mutis,

I thank you for your response and I guess I need to start from the beginning to paint a clearer picture. I purchased the s8 when it first came out based on me wanting to utilize DVS. I also own 2 Technique 1200's that went perfectly with the s8. Well, recently I have purchased the Rane 12's. I'm trying to avoid having to purchase the Rane 72. In my last post, I also stated that I use a streaming service(TIDAL) as opposed to using external hard drives, thumb drives, etc. With that said I'm not able to utilize my s8 because it only works with Traktor platform. Tidal; however, works with Serato DJ Pro and Engine, which are platforms that I own as well. So in a nutshell, I want to use Tidal as my music provider with my Rane 12's and my s8. Now is there a way that this can happen WITHOUT me purchasing the Rane 72.

So... Do you need it as standalone mixer?
Are you aware most of the functions aren't going to work, right?

    How does standalone mixing work?
The Kontrol S8 can operate in standalone mode. That means you can disconnect your laptop and connect turntables or CDJ’s to the Kontrol S8 and DJ with vinyl, CD’s, or with usb sticks connected to a CDJ. When using standalone mode you can ignore the deck sections, the mixer section is the only thing that works in standalone mode. On this note you cannot connect usb sticks to the Kontrol S8 and use the screens in standalone mode. The screens will only work with Traktor running and your laptop connected.

    Souce:

It should work whatsoever as standalone mixer but all the related Midi (hid) and screens will be unavailable.
Edit: You will need a Serato compatible audio interface or if these twelves are mk2 maybe these work as audio interfaces IDK...

It's that what you were asking for?

IMO it will be better to use S8 with Traktor (or sell it) and just get a regular mixer...

I thank you for the info that you sent me. It does help in the sense of me knowing a little bit more about my s8; however, it didn't help my situation. I guess all in all as you said I might just have to sell the s8 and purchase the Rane 72MKll(which is what I didn't want to do). Once again I thank you for all of your assistance.

It's a shame there isn't an open standard for everything so in djing terms means
    S8 = Traktor, Rane72 = Serato...

Almost the new twelves output timecode so they work with Traktor too...
