S8/S5 Display Mods

Hi all,

I have always wondered why the display of the S8 are so dull and boring and do not provide the info everyone is asking for.
So I started this thread hoping that this could be an area where everyone could share his ideas and designs about further enhancing the displays.

I have rewritten the deckheader file completly from scratch, so it makes more sense and allows for easier modifications. I might have overlooked some items vs the original one. If so please let me know. (I only use tracks to mix and for that purpose it works great, at least for me).

From previous posts I have read, I saw you guys/girls would like so extra features on the displays.
So this is a first attempt at a new display format, showing lots more info then before, thus even further reducing to look at the PC screens.
My ultimate goal is to completely remove the need for PC screens

PS: Just know that this is my first qml file I have written, so if any of you guys have suggestions to improve performance, please let me know.



So I you have any remarks, just let me know.
Hope the code could be a good starting point...

Just have a look into the attached zip file. Rename the original files to name.orig, so you can always set them back.

Updated qml files - so selection between Key & Key_text is possible. (Need to modify the Deckheader.qml accordingly)
See comment in DeckHeader.qml to change between values.

Got the problem solved But modifying some other stuff...
Do you prefer the stripe or the wave for the non active deck in dual view?
I would suggest the stripe as this indicates the current position in the track...

Attached a new update...
Bug fixed as described in post #5.
Updated the dual channel display & some other stuff...

(I also included the original files in the zip... So you don't need to rename and search for them )

When i start traktor, i see these faded images on two screens. But if you choose a sound, this error disappears and everything back to normal.
It´s only on the beginning. Ok?





Can you help me change the Key to Key_text in the browser? I try, but i don't find anything about this.

Restarted my PC and traktor for about 30 times (and traktor about 100 times yesterday) and never saw that issue... Strange.
You on Windows or Apple?

By the way, I'm on windows with the beta from the test program...

I'm on OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, with the beta from the test program.

I've got it!!
I haven't found an option to do so, yet. However it is possible to change what the KEY column shows.
You can adjust the Traktor Settings.tsi to show the Key Text.

Code:

<Entry Name="Browser.KeyNotation.Displayed" Type="1" Value="3"></Entry>
<Entry Name="Browser.KeyNotation.Exported" Type="1" Value="3"></Entry>
<Entry Name="Browser.KeyNotation.Exported.ByPass" Type="1" Value="3"></Entry>

Simply set these to entrys to Value="3".

Hi all,

Just finished and tested the browser window.
Following improvements were made :


- new looks
- latest directory names will not be shortened. ex. >...>test..>folder1>current instead of browser>d..k>t..t>f...1>c...nt
- use symbols instead of structure names (explorer, history, iTunes...)
- during track selection only show Trackname and Artist. Icons can be added @ end when track is prepared, perlistened or loaded.
- added detail footer, that shows trackname, artist, BPM, rating, tracklength and Key (converted to CAMELOT system).
- Indicate if track matches qua Key with tracks loaded in other decks. (green indicated match (1 step), orange energy match (2 step)). Also show keys of all other decks (in CAMELOT notation).
1step : 06A will match with 05A, 07A and 06B
2step : 06A will match with 04A and 08A

To do : Update the preview, sort section to the new UI.

PS : Tracklength can only be read when you prelisten to a track... Does any of you guys know how to implement this, that trackprelisten gets started and stopped automatically? Or is there another way to get the tracklength from the browserlist? Thx

Update : I gave this a try with one of my D2's but no luck....... Would be nice if someone could edit this to work the D2's. Just shows what NI could do........

Might look at it on my S5 for a start.
