Well I'd say this just doeasn't work at all
    at least on Mac OSX.3
have we got to convert sd2 to wave before
importing? No that can't be possible - it would be rediculous. Bet it doesn't support sd2 regions either.
There seem to be so many problems with this
version of Kontakt I do wonder whether we're all paying for the privelige of beta testing it

When you say "doesn't work at all" what do you mean? Are you converting SC stuff from a CD or from a hard drive? Can you see the disc at all? Etc... if you could provide a bit more detail instead of just panning NI for a bug that may not be a bug, maybe we can help you get it working.

    from hard drive
it's mostly my personal library so there aren't any CDs
browser sees the insrument file and the sample folder OK. double clicking on instr asks
for sample file path as usual - you navigate to the sample (all but the required sample is greyed-outl) select it click OK then go back to request for file path again. Infinite loop time.
this very same thing happens with a number of
kontakt instruments from v1.2 by the way

I wonder if you're trying to import SC banks or instruments.

I'm spending some time with SC import this morning. I imported a bank (which is a collection of instruments), and had to go through the whole auto-find procedure six times because there were six instruments in the bank that I selected. You say it loops infinitely -- is it possible you just need to do it a few more times in order to load the bank in question?

And are you loading a bank at all -- or an instrument? With an instrument, I think you should have to do it no more than once.

    still getting nowhere with
    samplecell conversion

    i"m on OSX.3
i"m reading instruments & Samples from Disk
    (not banks)

before i go any further with this are you on a mac and are your
    samplecell instruments using sd2 files?

because it sure looks to me like kontakt simply doesn"t recognize sd2

double clicking on instrument generates "locate file" as usual - i
navigate to the requested sample file and it"s greyed out
i can"t even get as far as the "infinite loop" i mentioned before

ESX24 usually seems to be able to convert these files without fuss

also it"s clear that (as i supected) in the case of instruments that
use region references kontakt assumes region names to be individual
sample names and thus can never find them.

I am on a Mac (OS 10.3), and I just checked: my SC disc has the samples in AIFF format.

I guess you could try converting them to AIFF. The freeware SoundApp (OS 9 only unfortunately) can do this in batch.

I will let the Kontakt developers know about this issue.

in my opinion it"s really worth including region support when you
    address the sd2 issue
although this feature was dropped in the SoftSampleCell Editor
it was in the hardware version for years and very useful for recording
& editing large sets of short samples. I for one have a great deal of
instruments that use it. I suppose there must be some shareware out
there for doing batch region to file conversion but it would be nice to
    avoid that don"t you think?
