    Hi folks,
I have marimba notes sampled and loaded into a multi-instrument. There are 7 marimbas and I'm trying to trigger them. I'm using Cubase as the DAW. If I don't have "release trigger" highlighted, the notes choke off, but then if I have "release trigger" selected, then there is a delay introduced. Some of the instruments in my multi-instrument are delaying and some aren't and I can't figure out what settings I have changed for some to work and others to not work. I'm new to Kontact and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is this a custom instrument you're working on, or an instrument from the Factory Library, or from a third-party library?

Release triggers are meant for release layers, which you are unlikely to use in a mallet instrument unless you've sampled actual release samples. (If you have, you would put those samples into a special group and turn release triggers on for that group.)

Assuming you haven't, what you probably want to do is switch release trigger off, and then adjust the AHDSR envelope until the samples play the way you want them to.

Thanks so much for the reply. Yes, these are my own custom samples. That makes total sense that I need to find the Release envelope-that what I have done in the past when having these played in samplers.....hmmm-any chance you can tell me where to find the ADSR? I'm clicking the little wrench icon and trying to find it, but not having any luck...

EDIT-Ah, I got it-the AHDSR in in the Mod section and you have to select it from the drop down....man they really hide that!

Right. As long as you're new to Kontakt, I should also mention:

Any modulators (including AHDSR) that you attach to either the Source (pitch) or Amplifier (volume) module are group-specific. So if you have multiple groups of samples, you have to be cognizant of whether you have EDIT ALL GROUPS enabled or not. If you do, then changes and additions you make to modulators will affect ALL groups. If you have EDIT ALL GROUPS turned off, then you will only modify the currently selected group. (Open the Group Editor to see a list of your groups.)

Groups are a way to organize samples. For example, you could have one group for the regular sustained notes of an instrument, and a second group for the release samples of the instrument -- and in this case you would switch on Release Trigger *only* for the latter group.
