Hi, I have Maschine connected to my Mac and am using an Apogee Duet firewire audio interface. I would like to sample into Maschine from iTunes on my Mac if possible, I just can't find a way to route the output of iTunes into the Maschine.

The Maschine sees my Apogee Duet audio inputs, but of course I can't run the output of the Mac back into it for this purpose because I could get a feedback loop.

Could anyone suggest the right settings to make this work? (maybe you have already found a way) I want to be able to open itunes and use it as a library, with the output going to Maschine so I can sample sections from songs in my iTunes library and other sounds.

Also, I can't find a way to do live sample monitoring in Maschine, I see the meters bouncing up and down (when I have a sound source going into the stereo inputs) and it records it just fine but I can't seem to monitor what the Maschine sampler is hearing, i can only watch the meters bounce in silence then hit the pad and play back the sampled sound.

    many thanks!

I have an external soundcard that runs my Maschine audio, but the audio from iTunes comes right out of the Mac. Headphone jack out, into audio card in, voila. Works perfect. Why can't the Apogee do that?

Thanks but I am not sure that will work and maybe it's not possible because i only see the option in Maschine preferences of incoming audio from attached hardware interface inputs or from other samples already in the Maschine, there is no option to get audio from anywhere else . . . . Maybe a workaround I found is to use an Airport Express device, select the iTunes output from this and then run the output of the Airport Express to the input of the Apogee Duet (my attached audio interface) - this at least isolates iTunes from the Mac audio.

I still have the problem however of how to do live audio monitoring at the Maschine sampler - anyone who might be able to provide an answer with this part would really be helping me out.

    Many Thanks

    Simon

select In-built Audio for your System Audio preferences, and iTunes will play out of the headphone output.

plug that into your sound card and have that as Maschine's preferences.

i have done that with Kore1 Audio interface.

What sowari said is what I was trying to say, that will work, I think that's how a lot of people do it. Select the input on your external audio as the source for your sample, and then just plug the headphone output of your computer into the input on your Apogee that you've previously selected in Maschine...it's done.
