Sampling issues...please help

Hello All.

I ma having some issues with sampling....I am using an Ipod to sample from.

Here are my issues.

In standalone mode I sample from the Ipod, the sample shows up on a pad, and I can play it back...no problem. I then normalize the sample. first issue is..when I go to Slicing mode, it slices the sample into 16 slices. I can play the slices across the pads. If I leave sampling mode, the slices go away. If I hit APPLY. the sample become what looks like a REX file and they are not playable. Also Whatever bank the sample is on does not respond to volume changes. I hold the bank button and move the volume knob, and it does not affect the volume on that bank.

That is most annoying stuff...another issue is that I can't figure out how to sample while in plug in mode in Pro tools or Logic. I can't seem to select an input from my DIGI003

usually my issues are due to lack of knowledge about how to do something, and I am usually just thinking about it in the wrong way.....Any help would be great!

My set up is as follows
MAC QUAD 2.66 Intel
MAC 0S Leopard 10.5.9 I think
DIGI003
Logic 9
Protools 8

 

when you hit apply the sample gets mapped ,hit the play button and see if the samples playing

im not sure about plug in mode as i only use it as a stand alone ,maybe if some decent fl studio templates came i would try it

I hit play and nothing happens....I see the slices in the Piano Roll...but nothing. very strange

if you load a kit into a Group with a Pattern, does it play?
