Sampling issues :(

I've had maschine for about a week and I am head over heels in love with how easy it is to sample from vinyl BUT can some one help me out please. I've seen the vid of F major making a beat and in the video he's changing what one of the pads do ie. Pad 5 when triggered plays from start to Finnish with one hit and he hits other pads that stop when the next is triggered. What I'm trying to get at is, how do I change what the pads do? Wether it be one hit play in full or hold the pad down or only have one pad allowed to play at at time?

There are multiple ways to achive this.

To make a sample play the full range, set your sound to one shot.
To make a sample play only as long as you press the pad, set your sound to adsr and set release to 0.
To choke samples you can set up groups. For example you have a closed hihat on pad 3 and a open hihat on pad 4, set both in pad mode to group 1 and they will cut off each other. You also can set a whole group to choke mode, so if you slice up a beat only one pattern at a time is playing.
