Is it possible to save my own Kontakt instrument as a Kontakt Player instrument? Or is this something one needs to be a developer?

Only NI can do that. It's a service for which they charge money. The purpose of Kontakt Player is to allow redistribution of the Kontakt engine for the purpose of playing a specific instrument and at the same time provide copy-protection.

Yes, Kotori is right. Kontakt Player is a business partnership between NI and third-party companies. If you want to produce your own full library in Kontakt Player format, you should contact NI to find out the business details of this.

If you just have a patch that you want to give to someone in Kontakt Player format, you can't do that.

Ah. Kontakt Player is a limited version of Kontakt which is designed to load only the bundled sounds. If you want to load custom sounds, you should upgrade to the full version of Kontakt 2.

Thanks, I'm speaking of self created patches in Kontakt 2. But Sibelius new playback features work more streamlined with Kontakt Player than Kontakt 2.

If your patches are edited versions of native Kontakt Player library patches (f.ex. GPO/JABB), then they will run in KP2.
