Scale and Chord Engine - usable with external midi keyboard?

Hey,
I'm thinking about getting the fabulous update for Maschine to 2.2 (Currently still on 1,8). Can I use the Scale and Chord Engine with any midi keyboard or is it only usable via the Maschine pads? I love the Maschine software and I'm sure the update is great, but for tonal stuff (melodies and chords) I usually play them with my midi keyboard. I just can't get used to play this with drumpads! Let me know guys!

Are you sure? In Maschine 1.8 one could use any other midi keyboard to play notes, why would it be different in 2.x?

That would be utterly nonsensical. I mean: I'm not going to buy one of their new keyboards, just to play chords and other scales (nice features by the way, but I'm using the exact same features in Cubase for many years utilizing the built in midi plugins), when I already got a midi keyboard. I don't need multiple midi controllers in my small bedroom studio.

Can someone verify?

 

you cannot play the scale/chords/arps with an external non NI keyboard.

having said that, the update price at the moment is a bargain. the sale ends tomorrow Dec. 1st.

That's really disappointing. So I can't use the main feature of the 2.2 update?
Is it at least possible to chromatically play notes with any external keyboard like in 1.8? Cause I actually want to update my setup, not downgrade it!

By the way: Who is playing melodies with drumpads? That's the most counter-intuitive way to play music I can think of!
And I'm not going to buy a 25 keys keyboard for 500€, especially when I already got a very nice (4 octaves) midi keyboard.

 

You CAN still play chromatically. Your other midi keyboard will work just like it USED to, but if you turn on scale,chords,arp,note repeat in maschine and press a key on your midi keyboard......only the pressed note will sound. The other new features only work via the pads.

 

you can still use the scale/chord/arp features if you use your Maschine Controller.

it is still possible to play chromatic notes - this is not connected to the new features.

fwiw, it is actually really good playing the chords from the Pads.
