Scripts as MIDI?

Is there ANY way to record the entire output of a script-effected instrument as MIDI info into, say, a Logic MIDI track, as opposed to just getting the trigger notes recorded?

If your idea is to then be able to use such a track to play the sampler without a script, it wouldn't work because Scripts don't just affect the MIDI data. They also control the sample playback in ways that can't be done easily (or at all) via MIDI. ie there is no processed MIDI stream available which could then be used to control sample playback so that it would sound as it does with the script.

Thanks for the reply; clear enough.

But is there perhaps a way to have a script also output MIDI data that could get recorded, or do scripts simply not use/create MIDI? I’m thinking of the scripts that (seem to) create new notes, like the Delay Sequencer and the Melody Maker in Kontakt Experience. The point would be to access these cool functions for other synths, etc.... Dreaming, no doubt!

 

If all you want is the 'massaged' MIDI data, theoretically it could be available. I've never actually examined the MIDI output of K2 so I don't know what it contains. As soon as I get a chance, I'll run some experiments using note-generating scripts and see what the story is. When I have some answers, I'll let you know.

I just ran K2 stand alone and checked the MIDI out stream. Guess what? I don't don't see any MIDI out stream! Like I said in my previous post, I've never tried using MIDI out (since I haven't had any reason to). I can't find anything in the manual about it (other than page 30 where it says we can choose a MIDI output driver, but not what for). Has any one else reading this thread ever had occasion to use the MIDI output from K2?

And 'dc', if no one else posts some info for you, why don't you try asking NI about what's supposed to come out of K2's MIDI out. If you get any useful response, please share it with us. Sorry I couldn't be of help.
