This would be so nice. Sometimes I feel way too limited having to use a script for an entire instrument, and I would prefere rather to have it on a group based level. That would be a nice option to have, considering there are Group FX and Instrument FX levels.

You can write scripts that only interact with individual groups.

Personally I don't feel this is that useful since many instruments consists of a number of articulations where each articulation can use multiple groups, so controlling each group individually is not always that pratical. For example, for an articulation consisting of a normal group and a release trigger group one often needs to control both of these together. Maybe if there were some kind of group folder feature and this could be placed at that level...
What kind of use cases did you have in mind?

IMHO the way to go though would be to take the instrument bank concept to another level to make it possible to do many of the things that vienna instruments do: being able to layer patches, setup customized articulation switching and crossfading, and preferably also to use scripts and effects at that hierarchical level. Just my $0.02.

Well, lets use a keyswitch patch in this example. Lets say you have 3 articulation groups mapped to 3 different keyswitches. 1 vibrato sustain, 1 staccato, and one non-vibrato sustain. For KS1 with the vibrato sustain, maybe you'd like to have a legato script and a crossfade script. For the staccato KS, you really don't want to have crossfading, but perhaps you'd like to have a TKT script. Maybe for the third KS you'd want to have a vibrato script added to that group but not the vibrato sustain KS.

It would come in handy in a situation like that, and probably many others, especially since there are only 5 slots at the top of the whole instrument.

I just thought I'd add that I really wish for a solution to this problem, although we might have slightly different ideas about the nature of the solution and its desired generality.

Having the ability to use a larger script UI would be nice, too.
