Hi guys, first of all must say that I reported the problem to NI support but have not received any response from 2 weeks

I have some annoying delays in selecting (by hardware knobs) FX`s or SAMPLE CATEGORIES. This behavior makes Maschine for me absolutley unflow.
I`ll try to explain in detail.

Situation - i try to move the knob to choose a SAMPLE CATEGORY from Library (or particular FX too)
Result of this change can be seen on the MASCHINE DISPLAY but AFTER A FEW SECOND AFTER KNOB MOVE!

I`ve notice on notebook screen that MASCHINE software is freezing at this moment for a few seconds too.

Everything beside this is working perfect. Dont get me wrong, it`s not about loading SAMPLES or FX into project, but its all about selecting / searching (not loading).

I would say that my system is perfectly clear - i do not use the Internet connection (all network adapters is switch to off, audio integrated too), the system is designed only to music production. Drive defragmented, free space on the disk is about 50 GB. No DPC latency problems at all.

Here you can see what the problem is :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzintMnV_gs

    PC specification :
    Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66GHz, 2MB L2 Cache
    3GB of RAM
    Windows XP Pro with SP2
EMU 1212m interface (also tried ASIO)
All wireless and audioboard are off

Hope you can find a solution for me. Thanks in advance ;)

I Have The Same Exact Problem !

I reported this same issue earlier in the forum. I noticed the longer you mess around with it, the slower it gets. While fiddling around by browsing samples and testing out drum sounds, you will notice your ram spike up a bit. I run Sonar 7 and it only uses 80mb of ram while running. Howere, Machine may spike up to 600 mb. Also, let's say I want to search for a better snare to go with my kick drum. If I stop to play around with the kick so see if the snare meshes with the kick, this will slow down the machine drastically. At this point, browsing for samples gets to be a pain. Nevermind trying to use the filter parameters on the harware. It becomes way to slow to deal with. I hope they can fix this bug because $550.00 is to much to fork up with glitches like this still existing. I just bought my Machine & set it up a few days ago brand new. My computer is also brand new and specifically designed for digital audio recording. I also noticed that note repeat doesn't apply on your keyboard after updating to 1.5

Thanks Scoob, I was afraid that the cause of this issue is a poor configuration of my laptop, but it is a very good example that it is not. But the most disappointing is no answer from technical support. shame

Now I have absolute sure. I`ve tested Maschine on version 1.1 for couple hours - Everything works perfectly great! Damn, finally, I remembered why I bought Maschine. The only thing is that I am forced to work on the old version because only 1.1 gives the right comfort - the flow... ehh

Apparently the problem is some kind of bug in version 1.5.
I will never understand how come such a major company like NI makes such simple mistake.

Back to the old version !

I also wanted to go back to the old version. But then I noticed that I couldn't open any of the projects that was made on 1.5. It kinda sucks cuzz I made a dope beat on 1.5 version and don't want to lose it. So, it works good on the original version ? I though so. Maschine has even crashed on me while browsing on the 1.5 version. It was badd enough for me to have to re-install the whole thing over.

I wanna believe that when the developers go to update the software, they tend to use the mac as the model more when creating the update. This might not be an issue for people using the Mac. So what ever they did when updating the software, it might have benifitted on the apple but didn't fully work on pc. But I'm just guessing. I've heard of this type of thing happening with vsti before. Eventually I believe they will work this out. Otherwise, I'm really pleased the Maschine. I hoping I won't have to use my MPC 2000XL anymore. Were you even able to get a hold of a rep in person ? I noticed they don't have a number posted anywhere.

Maschine will create memory spikes when generating long lists of samples.

Typical usecase is 80 gigs of imported snaredrums on one long list. When this list is "diced" into subcategories Mysnares1,2,3,4,5,6,7 instead of one long list you can avoid the major spikes.

    This should help.

Sure you're may be right, but i think it has absolutely no meaning - the same problem is when I browsing the FX lists...but it is not the point.

I mean come on man, on 1.1 everything is absolutely flawless, so this issue it has nothing to do with PC specification, hard disk capacity etc..

In my opinion - definitely a bug, wrong written or overloaded code..

I have the same issue too. It also seems that for some reason Maschine starts eating up more and more cpu the more it is being used, turning the audio engine on and off in Ableton Live, does kind of reset it, but projects that were perfectly fine a few months ago under the 1.5 beta are now stuttering like crazy, when using Midi clips to drive Maschine and have 8 outputs from Maschine going into their individual audio tracks. This alone drives my CPU (8 MIDI channels + 8 Maschine outs) drives my CPU to 48% (I'm running a Macbook 2.4Ghz Core2Duo with 4 Gb of RAM). I am thinking of upgrading, but am not so sure as it'll really help...

Same problem here running 1.5 on:

    Dell Inspirion 530
    Quad Core 2.40Ghz
    4GB Ram
    Windows XP SP3
    M-Audio Card

CPU spikage upto 60% and knob selection freezes......what the hell. As if it wasnt bad enough waiting for sounds to load to pads now this.

Im so glad im out of my return period!

Same happened to me with 1.5 - filters in the file browser are slow to respond. I think this is PC performance related but definitely got worse with 1.5

Did you contact support? The forum isn't meant to be the support vehicle. From the FAQ:

    Still No Answer ?

I noticed that EW was critisizing us for using this forum to discuss our similiar problems and inefficiencies with the Machine product.. However, most of us have contacted NI support and have not had any response. This issue seems not to be a problem relating to individuals installing the software incorrectly or computer compatibility problems. All of us are experiencing the same delaying issues with Maschine as posted by petersky at the beginning of this thread. It has nothihng to do with our basic knowledge of this product because scrolling from "NI Projects" to the "FX" or "Library" should not require any directions or special knowledge as this is common sense. We are all experincing delays with this and when choosing drum shots. It also has nothing to do with our set-ups and we all seem to be speaking good enough english to understand that this has nothing to do with the our set-ups. And if NI can't respond in a timely manner, I guess my brothers in the forum will.

The maschine dev team is looking into this.

For now there has been no repro on any of our test systems, and we are looking into how the performance is when the maschine controller, and your audio interface shares resources. Please check if there is a pointer here that would help us track this error.

Any new information on this bug is very welcome, since it only seem to happen on some systems, not all.

Ah- no. I was pointing out that the forum isn't supposed to be the main tech support vehicle. How is that criticism?
And where has anybody even implied that?

    Hi again

I have a few questions for those who still experience this problem.

    1. which operating system are you working at ?
    2. what settings you have set in virtual memory tab (Control Panel) ?
    3. do you have installed any tweak tool like xp-anti spy?
    4. who is your laptop manufacturer (if it`s a laptop of course) ?

The whole day i`ve been trying to figure out what might be the cause of our issues. Very possible that I`m close to resolve this problem at all, but I have to verify sort of things. Thanks

    Best.
    Peter.
