    Hi all,

If this has been discussed I can't find it right now. My Instrument has several Channel Message modules to send out Midi. One on channel 10 and several others on channel 1. My instrument is set to output on channel 1. The module that's supposed to send on channel 10 has "Always send on Instrument Send Channel" not selected (by the way, what does the "Range" on the Chan. Message Function page mean?).

When I set up a channel in Live 7 to receive Midi from Reaktor, everything is received on all Midi channels. Am I missing something here? It is quite essential for my ensemble to be able to send on different channels.

    Cheers,
    Axl

Easiest way is to set the MIDI channel on a per-intrument basis using the options.

Also bear in mind the MIDI channel limitations of Live itself.

Might be easy or not so easy depending on how your Instruments work. Anyway, there are channel inputs on Chan. Message. Are they supposed to do anything?

I've never run into these. Can you tell me about them?

Yes, the channel message modules works fine, it's very useful if you want to be able to e.g change the channel from a panel control. But for set & forget, I would say setting the options route is easier. YMMV.

Live rechannels MIDI internally, so it's not so easy to transmit on different channels internally. You might need to cobble something together using the External Instrument plug-in.

Thanks, I've found a solution though it's ugly. I filtered the different notes via keyboard splits in midi racks which in my case works, because my outputs have seperate note ranges. So, is this an issue with Live that it can't reiceive Midi ouptuts from plugins on different channels?

As per my understanding, yes. Although depending on your specific application, the External Instrument plug-in can be quite useful.

Yep- it is. Live only supports one MIDI output channel per plugin instance.
