Sequencing in Ableton

Hey,

I want to do what this guy did, i think it seems like a good way to make things more interrelated.

But i have one problem, on the second Midi From option (0.41 min in the video) the "maschine" option dont show up, only pre/post fx. And it dont work. Anybody have any ideas around this?

 

are you using a Mac?

use the VST version of Maschine, not the AU.

Oh so thats why. But how do i change? I remember when I installed the 1.5 software i didnt choose UA over vst. And in ableton (just switched to ableton from logic) i only get two options, Maschine and Maschine FX.

 

you need to enable using VST plugins - as well as AU - in Ableton's Preferences.

This is a nice way to work but it does have the limitation of not allowing automation for example, since you cannot send midi cc data from live to automate parameters. The best thing about working this way on the other hand is you can now apply groove quantization templates in Live to your patterns, a feature which sadly doesn't exist in the maschine.
