I have been using Serato for about 6 years and I also agree this update was underwhelming, the off-line player is ok, the GUI didn't change much, the 64bit and the "ground up" rebuild didn't make any performance difference for me, Serato DJ still uses an unreasonable amount of CPU, this is making me consider switching to Traktor.

I'm not suggesting that NI should invest all of that money in Traktor.. A few milion will be more that enough. They need to hire more developers, product designers and most importantly a product LEAD that has a clear vision for the future of DJing.

And I don't think NI should go head to head with Pioneer. Their hardware is(and always have been) the industry standard. And is not going to change anytime soon. NI should add HID support XDJ 1000 MK2(a LOT of people have been asking for this) and focus on what they do best:

Design great add on controllers like X1,F1..

I think you're misunderstanding. To get the investment, NI would have to provide a clear business plan on how it will be spent. No investment company in their right mind would consider Traktor a good investment, it's a market NI can't win. Making iterative changes to Traktor is of no value to them.

If NI hasn't really invested in Traktor of late, getting that investment will make zero difference.

So are you suggesting that Traktor will not see any of that money? Mmmm.. Don't forget that is still one NI core products. They sure lost a good chunk of market share in the past 2 years with the whole S8/D2/STEMS deal. They might want another crack before throwing the towel..

Can't find the article, but the recent investment would go to other NI products beside Digital Services.

Why would any company invest in traktor when Pioneer have the market sewn up?

The investment will be in a market that has a continuous revenue stream. That's what the new site is.

"To help realize this vision, Native Instruments will be focused on recruiting tech talent in Berlin, Los Angeles and London in the coming year. The company has made a handful of key hires in Berlin and Los Angeles over the last 12 months -- including the acquisition of remix monetization startup MetaPop, whose former CEO Matthew Adell now serves as Native Instruments' chief digital officer. In addition, Native Instruments will continue to improve upon several of its existing products aimed at innovating around the DJ-producer experience, including the popular DJing software Traktor and the Stems technology, which breaks tracks into its component parts for live remixing."

Some of that investment I'm sure is going to Traktor, Maschine, and Komplete.

I enjoy these semi whiney threads. Having used Traktor since I stumbled across it version 2.5 in abouts 2003, I haven't turned back. Of course there are outside-the-box features we all would like to see, and I believe one day we will, but my original directdrives I still throw down on are just as sharp as they were the day I unboxed them. Traktor is by far, and hands down, the ultimate weapon in a digital DJs toolbox, and if it didn't change versions ever again, it will remain on top as a total package. I've never fussed at my milkcrates because a exclusive release I picked up underground had a slight BPM change and never wrote Audio-Technica because their platters would't resync the altered BPM. What pleasure is it when a "DJ" sets it on auto pilot and bugs out because they can't sync up? Learn the art, an it will be then you recognize what is inferior and who stands on top!

I'm a so called bedroom DJ now. Been active as a club DJ from 1988-1992, after that some occasional parties and had my last gig in 2000. Turntables only, never touched a controller or CDJ. Traktor DVS is all I need, of course there is room for improvement but I don't foresee any reason to switch to another platform. The thing I look forward to the most this year is Phase but that should work for all platforms. But I can understand the envy towards Pioneer/Serato if you are looking for new gear or if you make money out of DJing.

There are others are running scared from the Serato/Rekordbox war - Mixvibes Cross Dj for PC/Mac is basically committing suicide.

I dont care about Serato - but the lack of updates and communication from Native Instruments on Traktor software and hardware is inexcusable.

Neither do I to be honest.. I just wanted to point out with that Traktor's competition isn't sleeping:)

The flustration some people have these days is understandable.. No updates for almost 1,5 year, now news of any kind regarding the future of Traktor.. NI is playing with fire and might loose(or already lost) some of the most hardcore fans.

You get used it around here. Playing fast and loose with the facts seems to be a prerogative of the naysayers.
People in other threads are posting correct and helpful information and they are called liars. It beggars belief.
