I'm interested in buying Serato Sample but would like some insight in to how it works with Maschine. What are the benefits to using this over the built-in sampler? Is it good for tuning samples also?

    Thanks,

    Sam

Serato Sample is an amazing, simple bit of kit. The main points for me are the real-time time stretch, key transpose, and bpm and key detection. It wouldn't surprise me if NI don't license and integrate it some way in the maschine 3 software. In the mean time, it does the job brilliantly. You'll never want to use maschines editor again.

And is it quite easy to get your head around? Does it record midi data to Maschine?

In terms of getting the sample in to Serato Sample, do you sample as normal from within Maschine and then open the VST or do you have to import the sample in to Serato Sample separately?

I love Serato Sample. It really is almost perfect for my workflow. Now if it could just export sounds back to Maschine, that would be amazing.

It's a VST plugin so you play it just like any other instrument. The sample is inside the plugin and the time stretching and pitch shifting is great.

Ok, so once you've chopped the sample and you've programmed something in to the Maschine sequencer, are you then able to add additional effects from within Maschine, such as EQ and compression or are you limited by the effects in the VST?

As with any VST instrument, whether it's Massive or Serato Sample you can add effects to it. The actual sample however is loaded within Serato. It works great with full tracks, great for finding good chops within long tracks. I just wish I could export the slices back to Maschine for editing after.

Serato sample makes it really easy and fun to sample. I use it in keymode with the Komplete Kontrol Mk2. I think you will like it. I recommend trying the trial version for 30 days.

My KKS61Mk2 is on it's way. SS works amazing with the Maschine's new Keyboard button and iPhone-like color display

Looks like how I use t use serato to chop stuff and rearrange it instantaneous and just sampled it in Maschine. Now you can have SS already sync everything to Maschine and keep the same key like you were performing with serato. Sounds cool
