Serial Number used by someone else? How is that possible?

Hello and a good day to you all,

I hope someone from the NI customer service reads this, because I simply don't want to be ignored with this problem, and I also refuse to be considered a lier.

I'm trying to re-authorize a software I have owned and used for over 4 years now: EastWest's Stormbreakz. New computer, new installation, new authorization. That software I, btw, also never sold to anyone.

But, Service Center tells me that my serial number is already registered to someone in the US. That, given that I'm the owner of that serial number (or so I thought), is unusual.

It's been at least two weeks since I reported that really bizarre problem, and a week ago I got a reply suggesting that I please find the invoice of my purchase to proof ownership.

I obviously don't have that anymore, but I sent them a screenshot of the registration email I got from NI 4 years ago when I first registered Stormbreakz. Legally that's hardly profound proof, I admit that, because I might as well have forged that screenshot.

So far anyway, no answer, no solution. I feel ignored. Maybe they think I'm a fraud, and that upsets me. I have the original DVD, and the original serial number, and can't understand how that happened.

Has anyone else ever experienced something similar?

You can log into your NI account on the web site, and can view all your serial numbers there. That's the quick/easy way to verify whether that serial lives in your account.

Guessing blindly, one possible explanation is that you registered it at NI using a different e-mail address.

Yes, David, thank you. That was of course my first thought, to check where that serial number went. It's gone, not in my account anymore. I have no idea what could have happened there.

I also never used another email adress to register, I've checked that as well.

All I have to proof my case is the original DVD, the original serial number (although cut out of the original paper cd sleeve).
Plus, I have registration confirmation email from Native Instruments, with name, date of registration, and serial number, as my most important proof.
NI aren't answering at the moment (probably because of the holidays), but I sure hope that they'll get in contact with me again, because I paid money for that software, and I don't know what the h*** is going on here.

I hope that this is not the only case of such a serial number paradox, because if it is, I'll have a hard time convincing anyone of my right to it.

If you have any other idea, Dan, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance,

    Viktor
