I recently installed Windows 10 from scratch on my computer with a clean install. After doing this, I re-installed Komplete 10 and when I went to run the Service Center I kept getting the "Service Center has stopped working" error. I've been dealing with this for almost a week now and I cannot find a solution anywhere (I've read all the threads I can find here).

From what I can find, this has been going on for years with no clear reason why and there are only temporary solutions that work for some, and not all. The odd thing is, before my recent re-install of Windows 10 it was working perfectly on this same version of Windows 10.

Possible solutions that did not work:
    • Uninstall and re-installing the older version. When I did this, it simply updated the app right away upon opening and then the updated version opened itself and service center crashed. This all happened quicker than the blink of an eye. This may work if I can somehow disable service center from updating itself.
    • The registry hack found in other threads.
    • Running Windows in Safe Mode.
    • Disabling all firewalls and security programs (I only have the one that comes with Windows).
    • Changing the rights of the software. Running as administrator, changing compatibility, etc.
    • Updating Windows. I am completely updated.

Some odd behavior I've noticed is if I restart my computer and start service center upon logging in, service center cycles through all of the plugins and it only crashes once the service center gets to the "logging in..." status. This takes about 15-25 seconds. After this, if I open service center again it will crash immediately and does not even make it through the plugin check. It will then continue to crash immediately upon opening the software until another restart.

Since service center was working before on Windows 10 on this same machine with the same hardware, I can only guess that something is conflicting with it on the software side. However, this makes no sense due to the fact that I am running a clean version of Windows and I do not have very many programs installed. FL Studio, Chrome, Audacity, and that's about it. I tried to keep it as bare as possible.

Is there anything I could possibly be missing? Does service center run on flash or any other programs/platforms that may need updating? I am really trying to avoid re-installing everything again since I'm already on a clean install, and going through that may still not even fix the error. It would just be a massive waste of time. Can someone from NI please chime in and help me out with what could possibly be going on with this software and why it is crashing all the time? I do have deadlines I need to meet and without being able to update Komplete I cannot access my projects, so I am definitely trying to figure this out as soon as I can.

Thank you to anybody who replies!

    Some general things to check:
    • Instead of launching Service Center via the shortcut(s), see if launching the executable directly from the directory (C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Service Center) makes any difference
    • Do you have the option [Log me in automatically on next startup] enabled? If so, try to disable this option and login manually.
During startup (scan) does immediately hitting the [Cancel] button cause any crashes as well?

    1) Try updating the Flash Player to the latest version.

    2) Otherwise check the error logs for any specific details about what might have caused the crash:

    3) Or contact NI Support directly (calling them is usually faster): http://www.native-instruments.com/en/company/contact-ni/

Do you know if there is a way to edit this option before the program crashes? Maybe some kind of setting in the registry? I think that may work if I could access it. The preferences option in the file menu seems to be greyed out while the service center tries to log in. If I press cancel after loading service center (to stop it from checking my internet connection), it takes me to a screen that talks about how to establish a connection but there's no way to access preferences.

    I'll have to check this.

What I forgot the mention in my previous post:
There's also a Reloader.exe located in C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Service Center, which you can also try to launch directly.

Doesn't look like the auto-login setting is stored in the registry ...
But you can try to uninstall Service Center and remove every "Service Center" related entry in the registry first before installing Service Center again.

Or you might even consider to try resetting and changing your password (so Service Center can't login automatically until you use the new password):

    Another thing to try:
    1) Go to C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Native Instruments\Service Center
2a) Delete or move the file pal.db (it will be created new when launching Service Center)
2b) Or check the Chrashlogs-subdirectory for any crashlogs.

Also reboot your computer at least once (for instance after un-/-reinstalling Service Center, updating Flash Player, etc.,), just in case.

    Hello solger,

I tried all of those things and they didn't work. I'm going to try uninstalling Komplete 10 and reinstalling it again from scratch. I can only hope that this will do the trick :(

I finally got it to work!!!

Unfortunately, what I had to do was this:
    • Re-install Windows 10 with a clean install. This was actually pretty fast, probably 15 minutes and maybe even quicker than that.
    • Installed service center right after Windows 10 loaded for the first time. I didn't install any other programs before doing this. I wanted to make sure I could eliminate any conflicts with other programs that may be present.
    • Service Center loaded! However, I didn't have Komplete 10 or anything installed so there was nothing to update or register.
    • Afterwards, I installed Komplete 10 (DVD's A through M...).
When I had to click the button to load service center for the first time, the amount of stress I felt wondering if it would work this time is a terrible customer experience. I like Native Instruments but this whole mess was a bad experience, and they need to speak up about Service Center and why there are so many issues with it. Or, come up with workarounds so we can do the updates and registrations manually and not have to use that program if it won't work properly.

    Finally.

Glad to hear it's working now.
