I am having trouble getting the service center to run. The window never opens. The only error message I get from Windows 7 is:

    • Service Center has stopped working

I have tried downloading and reinstalling the latest version of Service Center for Windows (2.2.5) from:
    http://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=freeupdates#NI_Service_Center

    Other solutions I have tried:
    • Rebooting multiple times
    • Changing the rights of the Service Center directory to give it more rights
    • Reading the forums, particularly these threads:

    I am running:

    • Windows 7 Professional - 64 bit - SP1
    • Dell Latitude E6500
    ○ Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9600@2.80GHz
    ○ 8.00 GB of Memory

When I click View Problem Details, I get the following:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BEX
    Application Name: ServiceCenter.exe
    Application Version: 2.2.5.596

I am having exactly the same problem... just upgraded from XP to Windows 7 64 bit. When I tried to activate from within Kontakt it provided a crashlog, which I just sent to tech support.

    Hi Malcolm
Just posted the same question! Didn't see your post before I posted mine.
Do you still have the problem?
I'm in communication with tech support so if I get an answer that works I'll post the answer

I've heard back from tech support, but unfortunately they couldn't be bothered to read that I am on Windows 7 and not a Mac. So, I don't have a valid resolution yet.

I'm having the same problem. Windows 7 32bit SP1, 8GB RAM, Q6600 CPU. Completely up-to-date on my Windows Updates. Service Center just crashes upon load.

I wonder if the installation of SP1 is what started the problem... I loaded Win 7 and did the SP1 update right away, so never ran service center before the update.

I'm also having the same issue...Win 7 64-bit Ultimate. I just bought Razor, and I am unable to use it. The ONLY way to register this product is via this buggy Service Center tool!

    I have a solution

By trial and error I found a solution to the Service Center not Working problem. The problem seem to manifest itself as a result of the XP to Windows 7 upgrade. Since I wasn't getting anywhere with NI I decided to start again an reinstalled Windows 7 - not as an upgrade but as if it was a completely clean install. I declined to 'Look For More Recent Version' when loading Windows to avoid any incompatability problems (another person on the thread had suggested that this might have been the cause) then reinstalled Komplete 7 from the inital product CDs and ran Service Center straight way. No problemo! I now have the joy of reinstalling all my software but I had to do that after the 'upgrade'.
It wasn't pretty but at least it worked!

This isn't the universal reason. My install of Windows 7 x64 is from a blank drive and an OEM disk. It's also not the first time installers have inexplicably not worked with NI stuff recently. The Kore 2 driver is pretty screwed up too. Someone posted the driver without the installer, and it worked just fine.

Seriously NI. You guys need to start beta-testing your install process. This seems to be the point at which things break the most for you guys.

Did anyone find a solution? Running fresh Win7 x64 and no luck so far. I want to use the product and I can't. Should I start searching for cracks now? ... :(

I would. NI support has really sucked recently. It's really frustrating to watch such good products suffer from a sudden outbreak of not giving a **** about customer service. I actually think the problem with installers for both Kore 2 drivers and Service Center just show that NI isn't really testing everything before they release. It's been a very disappointing 8 months or so dealing with NI. I'm glad to see they are maturing Maschine, but everything they've done since has caused my stuff to not work. They never resolved the Kore 2 driver problem directly either. Someone posted an installer-less driver, which worked great. NI couldn't even do that?

I was finally able to register it by switching the user when I booted up my computer. Give that a try.

    Got it to work!

    Building on what Voiceontheair posted.

I created a new user with administrative rights called TEST under Win 7. Then I switched to that user and opened FM8, clicked on activate, and the service center started with no problem.

NI tech support suggested turning off my AVG anti-virus, but that did not help. I left it turned on when I finally successfully activated using the steps above.

same thing here. if I create a new account and use that account service center works fine..... when I go into the documents folder of that new account all I see in the Native Instruments folder is a folder for called Komplete 3 which has a Komplete 3 keyfile ,and an empty crashlog folder for Service Center..... I copied the komplete 3 keyfile and its folder into my regular account and also removed the komplete 3 keyfile that was there without being in a subfolder... but alas the regular account still d doesn't work.

    someone posted this:

OK guys, I have a working fix here

WARNING: Please backup the following key or take a system restore snapshot before proceeding just incase

    1) Open regedit
    2) Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings \ Connections
    3) Delete the key DefaultConnectionSettings

Please let me know if this works for you :)

Note: A new key of the same name with default settings will be generated when you start IE9. Service Center will continue to work even after this happens (at least it does here).

I've spent 2 days trying to activate maschine. I've tried all the solutions and nothing works. At the moment I'm in service centre downloading all updates, I've put my serial number in and all it's doing is initializing and doing nothing (the updates are downloading btw).

If I can't register my maschine tonight it's going on ebay! I've noticed heaps of people are selling their maschines.

I had to reinstall maschine twice now before it gets stuck finding plugins and stalling. Why the f*** would it look at adobe dlls?
