If possible try to offline activate the product on a 32 bit machine and make sure you have admin rights when you bring it back to your 64bit computer. Worked for me. Wasted a lot of time to get it working.

I had this problem adn contacted support who had me uninstall IE 9 and then it works fine. I'm not sure why they don't read this forum and let people know.

So I FINALLY got it working and now it turns out I got an old software CD (Kontrol S4) with the serial for the new software (Pro 2 for S4) which DOESN't WORK on the old version, making the unit USELESS with NO WAY to download the pro version S4 version!

So far my experience with this unit is a NIGHTMARE and I haven't even plugged it in yet!

hmm ill try that but im having the same issue here as the rest of you guys - i think its f8cking diabolical that NI hasnt answered this thread since april - ESPECIALLY as so many people seem to be having this same issue. I must say that with all the NI products i have and the times and had to contact tech support - none of my questions have been either answered at all - or resolved. Absolutley useless. Sort your **** out guys or for one will be looking at other companies products.

This worked for me, too. I'm running Vista Home 32-bit, but with IE9. Seems that something about the "old" DefaultConnectionSettings was preventing Service Center from accessing the Internet. Makes sense that some reported this as a user-specific issue (i.e. creating a new user helped) since the key deleted was in the "current user" section of the registry. Thanks! :D

Yes, also worked for me. Service Center would not open and run without crashing under Windows 7 64-bit with IE9. Did the Registry fix as posted by zvenx and it fixed the problem. Thanks!

    Mac solution

    ALRIGHT FOR MAC USERS!

I have been trying to use service center for what feels like forever and I have tried every solution. BUT I FOUND A SOLUTION. You simply log out of the account for your computer and login to the main account.

See the whole time I was using a different account and I logged out and tried the main account and it worked.

I am not sure if this will work for pc users but it is worth a shot! :D

I have a new win 7 64 machine and service centre just crashes as soon as I run it. I have emailed NI support twice and each time got one email asking for more information, which I provided. Then nothing. Silencio!
My advice is, no matter how nice NI goodies look. they aren't worth the money as their support are completely uninterested in their customers.
I used to think they were a pretty impressive company but not now.

It's really unfortunate that you are having these issues, but I think you have the right idea and should spread the word. This unrecoverable Service Center error as well as broken driver installers for Kore 2 (which has now been discontinued because NI values new customers more than existing customers, forgetting that existing customers probably buy more new stuff) are well documented problems on this forum. It is inexcusable for NI to not even have an answertron answer to these questions. The last NI product I bought was Komplete 7. Had support not been so abysmal, I would've bought Komplete 8.

Now my Kore us utterly unsupported and I spent a long time rating and color coding patch presets, as well as saving plenty of my own chains that are worthless in any other app.

ew or sowari will be around soon with a typical support-call non-sequitur like "Did you reinstall Service Center" or my favorite from around the web "Maybe you should try reinstalling your OS" as if your time isn't valuable. NI's support is utterly unacceptable.

service center wont open? THIS WORKS!

    iQUOTE=zvenx;871010]someone posted this:
    THIs works 100%

OK guys, I have a working fix here

WARNING: Please backup the following key or take a system restore snapshot before proceeding just incase

    1) Open regedit
    2) Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings \ Connections
    3) Delete the key DefaultConnectionSettings

Please let me know if this works for you :)

Note: A new key of the same name with default settings will be generated when you start IE9. Service Center will continue to work even after this happens (at least it does here).

    That works

The registry edit does work. I wonder why NI support can't just tell people that or is it too embarrassing that they can;t fix the problem with Service Centre themselves?
    Very frustrating!
