Every time I try to log in (to update Elektrik Piano from 1.0 to 1.5) I get a "server communication error: connection closed." and cannot log in. Why is this happening?

    Hi Strakerc,

we have a problem with the Service Center 2 login after a server maintenance update. Service Center 1 is not affected by this problem. We hope to have this fixed in a couple of minutes. Please try again later. We would like to apologize for the inconveniences.

I am currently receiving the same problem. NI Service Center constantly says "Connection Closed". I can't even sign up to create a new account through, but it does automatically update at start up. We have a proxy and filter service from our ISP, so we need https access to a certain URL to work?

    Hi,

usually this information from the SC2 manual should work:

If your computer is part of a larger network (which is probably the case if it is located inside a company building), a direct internet connection is usually not allowed.

For security reasons, a proxy server is used instead. In this case you need to enter the settings for that proxy server before you can connect to the registration server. The settings in Service Center are the same as in any web browser. You can easily copy them from your browser’s proxy settings. The following settings are required:

Host: Host Name and IP address
    Port: Port Number
After you have entered the correct proxy settings, click Proxy to continue.

If nothing helps, you can still use the offline mode, export the activation request file and open it in your web browser to complete the activation.

I'm having this issue too! WTF? Is the service center down today?

I even try to get a new password and it says it will send me an email, but I've been waiting for about an hour now...

Just installed Komplete 6 on my new MacBook Pro w/ OS 10.6.1. Service center had been giving me the same "Server communication error: connection closed." error even before my K6 install. I thought that K6 would install a newer version of Service Center but the version installed is copyright 2008? Nice! I'm using Service Center v 2.2.0.367

Any idea if this will EVER be fixed?

Does Service Center write log files? If so ... where are they? I can't find them in Apple's Console where all log entries appear. I'm trying to troubleshoot this myself ... I'm a Mac tech.

    Hello butisitart,

are you sure Service Center can use ports 80 and 443?

    Hello everybody @ NI
Is there really no dialog-box to set proxy information in service-center V.2.2.0.367 as mentioned in the manual? Did NI forget to implement this?

    Hello,

when starting Service Center it will try to connect to the internet at startup. When this is not possible, or when you press "cancel" during this, you will be prompted with a screen where you have three options:

    • try again connecting to the internet
    • enter proxy data (host and port) and a "proxy" button to be pressed
    • choose the offline method for activation

    hope this helps.

My option to cancel online activation flashes on screen in a fraction of a second so I can't even choose the offline option. And this is just trying to update to Kore 2.1 before I update to Komplete 6.

    Longtime NI user here, Kore 1 & 2, Komplete 3, 4, 5, and now 6 if
service Center will work! First issue I've ever had with Service Center in 3.5 years.

This is with both ethernet cable in port or with wireless router, and with virus scanning on or off.

    Hello tonewheeltom,

I am not sure what you see after the short flashing of the "cancel" button. But the short flashing of the "cancel" button is normal. It indicates that Service Center could establish quickly a connection with our servers. However, due to the free Holiday Collection release yesterday our servers were very busy during the past hourse, so a misbehavior could be related to this.

    Please try again today.

The entire window that has the progress wheel that shows that it's trying to connect to the internet and has the cancel button below it. That whole window flashes on and disappears.

Removed Service Center via Windows' Add/Remove Programs, downloaded the latest Service Center, installed again, shut off McAfee virus scanner, etc., and still have the same issue today.
