It would be great to be able to set pads to play a chord in Pad Mode. Right now it only does single notes and this would be a fantastic way to trigger arpeggiators in synths and blasts of chords.

Sounds interesting but I‘m not sure how that should work, since in Pad mode, every Pad plays a different synth or sample.

It would be cool to fire off midi in this way, of course though it is a sampler so you can just sample your chords and arp lines and assign them to the pads you want which will allow you to do just that.

As for firing midi in this way if we could just get Maschine and M+ to recognize midi input from plugins this would be easily doable with a small Reaktor script. In fact from custom chords, custom midi triggers, tempo changes, and many other options from the list of feature request would be possible via Reaktor if Maschine and M+ could receive midi from plugins. Of course on the PC you can use a virtual midi port for this, on M+ there is no virtual midi port. Let's get this to the top of the feature request list! [/Rant]

Agreed. It's piss poor that midi effects don't work in Maschine and this would allow me to do this.

The approach I would take from a dev perspective is to have your virtual instrument assigned to a pad and assign it to a virtual midi port and set it to receive input on a specific channel. Then assign cords or notes to whichever pads you like and output them to the same virtual midi port and to the same midi channel you've set. This would allow you to have the flexibility to either customize an instrument group with midi pads and the instrument or put all of your instruments in a single group if you wanted and all of your midi patterns saved independently of the instrument.

    Thanks for your explanation.
But my problem is to imagine how I would use Chords in Pad mode. Since every Pad has its assigned sound, it would come down to Pad 1 always playing sound A with chord A and Pad 2 always playing sound B with chord B. For which I have a hard time to imagine a musical use. Most probably, I simply don’t understand the potential.

Think of the "pad sound" being a Reaktor ensemble that makes no noise and only sends midi to your sound on another pad. Say you setup group A with 16 chords which routed midi to Pad 1 on Group B.

Ok, I think I get it. Although your example isn‘t different from keyboard / chord mode, this concept would allow to apply any number of chords or single notes to any number of sounds. That could be handy for improvisation or prepared performance.

Previously, I misunderstood the original request as: To enable Chords directly in Pad mode like in Keyboard mode without any routing of note events to a different Group. Which would mean all 16 Pads would trigger the same (selected) Chord. Which wouldn’t make much sense.

But if it was possible to define for each Pad whether it triggers a single note or a (custom) chord, even without the capability of event routing, that would be quite useful!
