Is it possible to set a loop-OUT only without setting the loop-IN first? Lets say I've just listened to 16 beats that I want to loop just before a chorus comes on but I want the loop to engage 16 bars earlier than where I am located in the song.

As of now I need to know exactly 16 beats before when I want to start my 16 beats loop to press the loop-IN button.

    Thanks//D

Interesting. What happens if you macro the beatjump backwards and loop activate commands together?

Yeah that made my head spin a bit but its interesting.
You listen to the track and think "i shoulda looped that bit".
Lethal is right i think. It would be a macro that involved Loop In/Beat Jump Backwards.

Let us know if it works Darren.

The only problem I see with this option is if you use 1 button to activate/deactivate the loop (which I do to save buttons) then you will jump back when you deactivate it as well.

Otherwise seems like a pretty clever idea.

This is actually a feature in Torq 1.5 (which I use to use, before Traktor). There, you simply hold down shift when clicking loop.

Can I suggest we move this to feature requests?

You could just have your normal loop settings set up, then use a modifier to set it to jump backwards. This could solve the issue of deactivating without having to jump backwards.

Yeah which is pretty much what you would do with Torq and the shift key i believe.
A modifier would work in this way really well. No need for 2 hot keys either.

thats a good idea, im actually gonna set this up today. U cab=n Just press loop active when u want to deactivate the loop, no?
The only thing is that sometimes the track could change drastcally in 16, so it may not sound good when u jump back. eh maybe i'll mack it 8.

Another "feature request" solution would be for the OUT button to automatically loop what came before it, taking its loop size value from the one that's currently selected, in the absence of a prior IN. :D

I think thats what the O.P is asking for.

Guys if you want to make 'Feature Requests' please make them in the correct forum.

From what I have seen messing around with this, it does not look like it will do exactly what your looking for.

It seems like when you map both of these controls to the same button, the loop sets before you jump backwards. So you jump backwards say 8 beats, but the loop point is set 8 beats ahead of where you jump to. BUT, you CAN do this if you use two buttons.

My suggestion would be to map the modifier to control the beatjump only. Then, release it and hit the loop button. That's the best I can come up with so far.

Or... if you want to get really crazy, you could find a work around with this by using Bomes Midi Translator. Just make it send out a sequence of keystrokes that go in a particular order. That way you can have one midi stroke hit two buttons in a particular order to make this work. I'm not sure if bomes will work with the button being activated by a modifier though. I'll mess around with it later today and see if I can get it working.

    Damn. Good try.

So if you don't send both messages together, then the problem becomes timing. You hit the button, you've set skipped back x amount of Beats, and now you have to hit the loop button. You'r off by at least 1/2 a beat at this point.

Bomes might work tho. Good suggestion there.

to put cues markers where you want so that to remember at that point to take the loop. or cue-loops and is looped automatically.

Yeh, I was able to keep it right on beat using two buttons, but I'm using snap mode. It may be a little more difficult without it. But, bomes should do this no problem. I went home and got too involved in mixing to remember to try this out. Now im back at school... I'll give it a shot when I get home tonight.
