Luckily for u I'm a self taught genius with midi translator, having 3 seperate instances of it open when using traktor... Geeky or what? ;)

Add a translation to change a button PRESS (say X) to send the same output that traktor expects to jump back 8 or 16 beats.

then add another translation so that when X is RELEASED, midi translator tells traktor to activate a loop.

Voila; one rapid button press for two functions without trying to macro them in traktor. Now you can have different keys for each deck & different beat jump lengths.

Obviously the PRESS and RELEASE cant happen at exactly the same time but it's almost a negligible delay.

Edit..... I've never used this particular feature but I believe Midi Translator has another useful function; a timer. Using that you could make the delay between beat jump and loop activation even smaller than the press/release delay.

lol took days to create and fine tune all the translations I use, you cant spend that much time on something and not have a pretty good understanding of it!

Remember; anyone can gain knowledge, only those with experience gain wisdom.

...or some shyte like that. ;)

I think I may have something that's nearly there. I've mapped a key to do the following:
Loop Active - Direct - On
    Cue/Loop Move - Previous
    Cue/Loop Move Mode - Direct - Loop
    Cue/Loop Move Size - Direct - Loop
    Loop/Set

Once that's set up make sure snap and quant are on. This seems to have the desired effect, although on non-beatgridded it doesn't work as well as the snap isn't always on the beat.

    He meant;

on-the-fly, no prior cue points made, no prior loops made, you've just played 8-16 beats that sound cool/work well with the other tracks playing and you'd like to have one button that effectively beat jumps back however many beats you want and instantly loops it.

In fact no matter how many loops and cue points you DO save, there will be times when you want to loop whats just been played but you hadn't saved one there.

Has anyone put in a feature request?
If not, create a thread then put a link to it here so anyone who likes it can "+1" it and get NI to make it so.
Seems its already a feature of other DJ software and probably an easy thing to impliment, the hardest part being how to add the feature to the UI logically.

I wont be putting in a feature request here cos I'm not a PRO user, just *offering my expertise.

    +1 love this idea.

I'm gonna hunt this "midi translator" proggy, can't wait till they implement this at NI. (should be just a loop out button = loop back)

    cheers!

As I recall the classic version is free and the pro version costs but its worth it.
