At the moment running a Z2, and two 1200's with time code, thoughts of the maniacal things i could do with stems are flowing through my brain. So here is the question, integrating 2 D2's into the setup to control decks A and B, would time code also be able to be used for time code control on stems decks A and B? I just have not seen anything in reference to time code control of stems decks, maybe i missed it? Would the S8 be a better option and scrap the Z2, due to the four channel mixer? Looking for positive feedback, thoughts, ideas. Thanks guys.

I have the s8 and vinyl timecode and the stems play nice as if it was a usual track. Ripping vocals or stabs out to scratch with would be fun... prob is I'm not much good at scratching so ill leave that bit to the more skilled crew.

Buying 2x D2 is more cost effective than the s8 as you alreay have the z2 but the s8 is one unit ready to go with no fuss. Choice is yours but highly recommend to get either just to see the stems broken into sections. Main traktor software does not show the stems in segments. Just the full wave as if it was a normal tune loaded into a deck.

Thanks for the reply, and the info Ravinstomer. Sounds like a fun setup you have there. Question, when i purchased the Z2 i was a bit disappointed that i could not timecode control all four decks without purchasing the A10 or an S4, curious if that is possible with the S8? The four channel mixer is definitely a huge plus over going with the 2x D2 setup, since they dont offer a "Z4" at the moment.

You'll be pleased to know that you can have all four decks running as timecode decks no problem with the s8.

You planning 2 turntables and 2 Cdjs or 4 turntables.

Size of the 4 deck setup would be like old gatecrasher dj booth lol

Just going with the S8 and two tables, future expansion would be an idea with Cdj's possibly, but i was thinking more along the lines of being able to switch time code control between track decks A and B and remix decks C and D which is unable to be done with the Z2 seamlessly. There is a good possibility i am looking at the setup wrong but i can see it working in my mind LOL

Are you asking if you can control deck a+c and b+d with single timecode either side but switch able? Then I'm afraid not.

Each channel on the s8 is independent so deck a timecode feeds into channel 1, deck b ch 2, deck c ch 3, deck d ch 4.

You can in timecode set up to listen to signal from channel a to control deck a and c at the same time but as I say... the same time!!

Or you mean have all channels set as independant timecode and press deck select to view that deck on the s8?

The scenario as i can see it in my head would be as follows playing a track on Deck A with time code control, mix that track and make the transition to a track on deck B then be able to switch time code control to deck C for sample scratching, revert time code back to deck A or even leave it on C for sample manipulation. Not sure if the process is possible, i would not expect to be able to control four decks simultaneously with only two sources but ability to switch control on the fly i would hope to be possible, if not that's ok because the possibilities are still infinite.

I think I understand what you mean.

Decks a and c use left turntable
A for mixing and c to scratch samples

Decks b and d use right turntable
B for mixing and d scratching etc...

Then yes this can be done. As long as you don't want to mix deck A with deck A or B with D!

In traktor settings go to input routing,
    Input deck A to channel A L/R
    Input deck B to channel B L/R
    Input deck C to channel A L/R
    input deck D to channel B L/R

With this configuration you can use one timecode each side.

Please remember that you can't scratch deck c samples over deck a and visa versa.

Another way would be to map via midi or keyboard
'deck common, timecode, scratch control on' or 'playback mode int/rel/abs
Then it can be used as a toggle switch per deck to turn of the timecode or to play normally but switching back can cause stutters or jumps around the track esp if switched back whilst in absolute mode so be careful.
