Hey guys, have recently started using maschine again after picking up a Jam and started playing on stage again. I’m a fan of using Maschine rather than Ableton for several reasons, but there are a few things that keep popping up.

The following things are little changes rather than vague blue-sky requests!

If any of these already exist, feel free to laugh at me and then inform me.

    Filter Auto-Engage

For just about every project, I set up a HP filter and reverb on the master, assign to macros, and map to a dedicated controller such as Akai lpd8 so I can always reach for a classic ‘washout’ for instant breakdowns with the band on stage, or just when messing around making parts. Problem is the built in filter is not transparent when at zero (LP or HP) and will always degrade the audio, especially with resonance up. Have been either sucking it up, keeping the res down or using fabfilter volcano for the task. An auto engage switch that would deactivate the filter when at zero (LP at bottom, HP at top) would be great.

Speaking of filter (and more importantly compressor as well), why can't you see the side-chain controls when in mix view? thats weird..not a deal breaker live tho.

    Safe re-triggering in library

Ableton Live has a great little feature where when browsing the library, a right arrow will re-trigger/re-preview a sound without loading. This means you can actually sort of jam that sample with the beat during playback to test if it might work. Currently in maschine to re-trigger a sample you still have to click it, and clicking too fast will load it. Whoops i just replaced my kick with a snare..

Unlink Machine Jam and Mk2 in standalone

When playing live, I usually use both the Jam and Mk2 as they obviously pair great. My role in the band is drums and bass. It frustrates me though that the two controllers always follow each other, a change of page on one will change the other. I can see the pros of this at times, but would like to turn it off too so i can have drums on the Mk2 and bass keys on the jam. I could imagine a ‘link’ switch up by the hardware icons on the UI that could be un-ticked, and perhaps a means to give software UI priority to a controller of choice. Most likely the Jam, as the Mk2 has screens so can be navigated without laptop screen.

Shift Midi notes via octave with hot key (Shift-Alt Up/down)

Shifting notes around by octave is an every-day task, and in ableton this is easily done via shift-up/down selected midi. In Maschine however it must be done on the controller which is a pain. If alt up/down is shift via semitone, then potentially shift-alt up/down could be octave?

‘Wait’ mode for scenes/patterns by either scene length, pattern length or bar length. BIT OF A DEAL BREAKER LIVE!

It really sucks triggering patterns live where it is instant rather than waiting for a smart length of time i.e. pattern end. If you have patterns with long midi notes i.e. pads etc you run the risk of mistiming the pattern change and not triggering the notes. Dire times when you get silence!

    Other blue-sky requests!

    Auto record pattern length

Macro automation lanes in scene arranger for global automation

‘Audio’ sounds as well Midi - Imagine if you could toggle to have a group’s sound as an audio sequence rather than piano roll (Midi). Drag and drop loops, accapellas, risers etc onto a determined bar length and turn that sound on/off for different patterns to engage their playback.

Better/easier macro mapping (multiple parameters please!)

More chords in the chord sets. There are 64 pads on the Jam!

Keyboard pad mode for Jam that mimics Push’s mode where the root notes are aligned on the left column (minor) and each octave is symmetrical vertically. A lot easier to find notes an octave higher etc.
