    Hi,

Is it possible to share the collection (together with stripes) from my Traktor Scratch Pro with the Traktor S4 system? Or is the collection from S4 not compatible with the one from Traktor Scratch Pro?

    Thanks for the replies!
    Regards
    Jef

    Have you already installed S4?

When you first install S4 you will be asked if you wish to copy a previous Installation.
This will copy the whole structure of Traktor so that your S4 installation will mirror your TSP in every way.

The S4 and TSP collections are compatible as long as you are fully updated on both.

    Ok Thanks for the answer.
So I assume it's not possible to only have 1 collection which is used by both traktor scratch pro and traktor s4?

Not in the way i think you mean.
They install in 2 different folders but you can copy and paste from one folder to another.
As both are using the same Default Music folder and HD paths they are easy to swap.

I would try to maintain one collection and import to the other Traktor whenever you want to update the second collection.

@ Karlos - Any chance that syncing collections, playlists, favorites etc. between TSP & TKS4 will happen automatically in the near future....I find it kind of a pain ín the ass having to copy playlist and collection-files whenever I switch gear and/or change something withing my collection(s)! :(

If I understand correctly, I can safely Install S4 alongside with my Traktor Scratch Pro installation and the S4 will automatically import the existing TSP collection without that I would need to export it first from TSP and then import to S4, right?

    Yeah you got it right.
On the first installation of the S4 software it will detect your TSP settings and ask if you wish them to be copied.

Choose yes and your S4 collection/tsi/favourites/playlist will mirror those in TSP.

If you do not choose to do this its pretty straight forward to import the existing TSP collection... and yeah, TSP and S4 can sit happily on the same machine. They do not share any folders.

    Thanks Karlos!

However, I'm going to bin my TSP installation asap when S4 is up and running with my collection because I've already sold my TSP. Now just waiting for the scratch support for S4 ;)

You can Export a playlist in TPRO, right click/Export Playlist uncheck the option to copy files. This creates a Traktor .nml file that can be imported into S4.
Right click on the Playlists Node in S4 and choose Import Playlist and select the one you just exported.

If you want to copy all your TPRO playlists then just copy the Collection.nml from the TPRO folder and import it to S4. it will replace the current collection and all the playlists though.

    probably....?

ok so i'm a clean freak. that i just want a dedicated software for my laptop. questions are:

seeing i got the upgrade tspro2 license with my s4. does the s4 need to be in thstalled also, or can i just install just the tspro2 in my machine and take out the s4 program. i already registered my s4 license with ni, just need to know if i can uninstall it and only have tspro2 in this machine.

this is my main dj equipment and as less clutter i can do the better. i do not do anything else on this machine but tspro2. i have other laptops to do everything else. please advise.

    yours truly,

As T2 is an update you do have to install S4 and activate it and register it on the machine so that you can install T2 and activate it. Once that is done you are free to uninstall the S4 version as it will still be registered just not activated.
