Can we have a forum for sharing our own productions / stems files? Obviously the initial availbility of Stems is pretty restricted, so it would be great if we could all start to widen the use of Stems by sharing our own when the creator tool becomes available?

I have recently updated to Tracktor 2.9 went well. I downloaded the STEM Silk and Velvet (I couldn't get the other one "Silk Trap Edit" to import) and they show up in the "ALL STEMS" under Tracks.

I load them up and don't see any breaks or what looks like a STEM. Is there a special way to load them into Traktor?

Traktor 2.9 does not have a Visualization of STEMS in the computer, the only way to see the brake down of the STEM file is with a S8 o D2, however, if you use an F1 Kontroller, as does not have any LCD screens, the 4x4 pads will work as a spectrum analizer for each STEM Channel

    Hope this helps

So basically this isn't about creating a new technology to advance DJing but 1st and foremost to make money... oh yeah it's a corporation got it. So we'll make it so the only way you can use it is to buy our controllers and buy the artists stems who we decide to give the technology to first. You know Tesla has a good model, share the technology with everyone so the idea can grow and survive rather than just try to make a quick buck. But hey who am I to talk, NI is a successful company they don't need any advice from a lowly customer.

Didn't they do this with the Remix decks too? Those are super popular right?
    /end bitch fest

    This.
A forum to exchange stem files would KILL.
I think the only reason more people don't use remix set files, is because they all cost money. The only remix sets I ever find myself using are ones I made of my own tracks, and the free ones from NI. If they really expect the format to take off, then it should be abundant/commonly traded among NI's user-base.
(Traktor Djs use stems---> labels see/like this-----> labels publish music in stem format)
I tried out the free ones yesterday, and I was surprised at how much I liked them. I suspect many of us will continue to (try to) use stems, but we need CONTENT. I'm looking for multitracks to turn into stems once the creator tool is out. Hopefully, once that happens, there will be a space on the forums to trade stems, it would be huge.

I'm in if we start a stem share system. Obviously not copy righted material but our own creations.... like sound cloud style .

After all we are the creators of our music so why not give it out for others to play with. I'm not one to seek fame and fortune.

Sharing Stems would be great but...
This exact thing happened with the remix sets.
The sites that had copyrighted material soon disappear.
And I am not ranting when I say the Content available to buy is all the same styles. Hopefully NI sees this pattern.
In fact a lot of the Stems files most of them to buy are also old remix sets.
I was excited until I saw the Content and same.
Hopefully this changes or a larger variety of artists catch on.

    @djmichaelk80.
You have 50 stem tracks... nice one

But are these your own creations or purchased from online sources??
Copyright laws may be flagged you if you are copying and sharing non ownership licenced material. Be careful on what is shared ;)

Just to qoute myself out of another thread:
    ".....
To me stems would only make sense when created out of popular tracks by major labels/artists - single layers of unknown material are not of any interest for the audience would not recognize me playing anything special or extraordinary.
And I doubt that major artists would offer their raw material to let someone else create something worse (or even better).
Question: Who will be the legal owner of a single layer extracted out of a stem? Until now NI has not answered this
    ....."

Imo If you were to extract a stem strand or layer and use it for re publication in another track then copyright law will take affect.

If you play a full stem track and did whatever on the 'fly' ie a 'mix' then this is no different to what djs do anyways and copyright laws shouldn't be affected under entertainment.

It's only if single stems cells where poached and a copycat tries to pass it on as original material then this will be unlawful.

What NI are doing is opening a new style of creativity for djs to embrase. Licencing terms will be down to the consumer of the stem track and not to use in an ill manner as above.

I'm not a lawer nor know the full ins and outs of the copyright laws but to my understanding this is whats to happen.

Agree completely, we definitely need dance classics in Stem format.
None of the Stem tunes made available so far have interested me. And why is the tool not yet available??

To get classics in stem form would need a revisit to the archives from record lables which I presume is unlikely. Only way to get these is via the artist or producer still having his/her original mix down files. You can't make stems from a completed and pressed mastered track. That be like taking the yeast out of bread after its been baked.

This is a new format and tunes of today are classics of the future. It can only be started from this point. Roll on 5 years and we should have a good collection going.

The only way to get classics in this form if all is lost is to redo the recordings. This could be a great chance for those artists to revisit the studio once again.

I bet labels have a ton of studio multitracks stored away so they can remix and re-release hits every 5-10 years.
The Livin Joy - Dreamer acapella only leaked out a couple of years ago... where had that been hiding the last 15 years?
A bunch of multitrack recordings from The Beatles and Queen still exist!

It all boils down to enough people buying them... but for that to happen people need interesting content. Bit of a catch 22

Ive been looking for a stems sharing forum for ages, so if any of you happen to know anything Id apreciate the info... On another note, Im thinking its posible to have a certain, perhaps small, private group where we could share music... I have good music I could exchange. If you are interested let me know.
