I dunno what's goin' on, but the sound for things I sample (using .wav) and anything w/ a somewhat bassy, loud sound sounds really bad. It seems loud or something? Has that ugly craclking noise to it, & I don't know how to get rid of it.
I jus got the maschine so maybe I messed something up when I was foolin' around w/ it.
But, help a sista out. Its really bothering me

to clarify, if you want good quality samples when you are sampling, then you do need to spend some money on a halfway decent soundcard.

budbrewbeats, are you using a PC or Mac? if you are using a PC you probably should download asio4all, which is an Audio Driver that most Windows artist/producers have installed.

No no, everythin' was all cool a few days ago. This problem jus came up last night :/
But yea, I got a PC. I'll install that asio4all.

I'm afraid that asio thing was no help..

Sounds like you need a new soundcard that will run maschine.

    link me to your soundcard

How do I know what kind of soundcard I got?
    & Where do I change the buffer exactly? I can't find it : P

That's really odd I have a cheap HP laptop setup and i run maschine smoothly without an interface.

What drivers are you working with

I just bought a Alesis IO2 Express, Asio4all isnstalled, raised buffer level in maschine and I still get the crackling thing. I'm thinking since I have an old pc, maybe that's the problem. I can't even run the NI projects like "All For the Love". It's like my pc can't process the sound. I've never modified this pc and it's about 5 or 6 years old. I suspect it's time for an upgrade. Can one of you confirm this for me. It's frustrating but not a biggie right now, cuz I'm just about to build a more updated pc. But any useful advice would be appreciated.

@Albany - we can't confirm this for you, because we don't know what the spec of your computer is

Yeah, I figured as much. I wasn't very specific because I'm at work now and I can't give specifics about it off the top of my head. But just to give you idea of how bad I need to upgrade, my pc got a performance rating of 2.0. ;) On a rating system of between 1.0 and 7.9. I know, I know...I can hear all of the groaning from here. lol My new system is going to be ready soon, so no worries. Thanks for considering me anyway. Peace.

    FTR,

it took me ages to get this figured out,
but it was just my CPU mazing out and dying...
this happened on a couple computers, and i figured out how to constantly bounce audio down to keep cpu use in check

if anyone ever had this issue,
    thanks everyone!
