Should I buy Maschine or Komplete + pad controller?

I'm thinking of buying Maschine this week, but can't help wondering if I could get more for my money by getting Komplete 7 (with Battery) and a pad controller instead.

I like the idea of working on Maschine, but can't help thinking that Komplete (with Battery) and a controller would give me perhaps 70% or so of what Maschine can do for me. Plus I'd have all the other cool stuff in Komplete.

Would love to hear anyone's recommendation, as I'd like to make a purchase this week.

    Thanks!

I had the same dilemma, but (after buying them BOTH) I've learned that they are two ENTIRELY different ways to make music. Maschine and it's software behave as an enclosed system that operates independently OR within your DAW. K7 and pad Kontrol will simply operate as MIDI (virtual instrument) data and sound source.

A lot of the functionality that comes with Maschine will be lost. For pattern-based music, I don't think it can be beat. (It takes me back to the days when I used to rock a Roland R8.)

My answer would be to get K7 + Maschine, if you can. But, if you are limited and focused on the greatest VARIETY of sounds (outside of drums), get Komplete 7.

There IS a reason why NI bothered to create Maschine afterall even when they already had Battery and the rest of Komplete.

And that's the hardware-like workflow that's totally integrated within a software environment that you just won't get anywhere else. What this translates to is more immediacy, efficiency, productivity, and most important of all, FUN!

Buy both for the sake of VST-Support ;)

I second and third this... Maschine + Komplete 7. There's so much to come with Maschine software, you don't want to miss it.

I had the pad kontrol for a few weeks, but after seeing maschine in action sent it back and got maschine instead. Definitely made the right decision, obviously more expensive but so worth it.

Get Maschine first, then save the chedda to get Komplete 7 next! With 1.6 coming up, you'll want to have Maschine in hand, then K7 with all those instruments can be added!

Thanks for your input guys - will pick up a Maschine on Friday, then get Komplete in February after I've saved up.

I was thinking that Maschine would mostly just be a MIDI controller, but after watching a few videos from Maschine users I'm convinced that the workflow is gonna be a huge benefit.

I don't even have Maschine yet, but I'm getting it soon too! I just feel that's the best way to go about it! If you checked out KnockSquared's vids on Youtube, I know you're SOLD, lol! Congrats bruh! :D

Thanks man! Yeah, Knock's videos are killer!

Since I'm a drummer, I was really hoping the pads were gonna be sensitive and have a wide range of MIDI velocity when triggered, and this is the video that sold me on that:

By the way, I ordered my Maschine today, looking forward to getting it next week!
