I Already have The Alesis VI 61 , Ableton live 9 suite, maschine Mikro...Do you thin Kore 2 ( I can have one for 100$ ) can bring something to my actual setup, or is it just a waste of money for me ? Thx for your help
I'm a long-time Kore user and would not be without it. As a sounds database it's great (though not as great as it once was as NI keep trying to hobble it and some newer plugs are starting to fail (I'm told)). For sound design it's way beyond wonderful. You can build incredibly complex, multi-synth, multi-effect patches and, of course, you can control them with the hardware. I've just bought an Akai Advance 61 and I'm using Kore within it. That way, I get to load sounds from the very few synths that VIP doesn't like. AND I still have my Kore library to hand within the Akai keyboard (just in case I don't want to use the Kore hardware. Get it. You won't be disappointed.
Be careful, though. - The MAC OS X 10.10.x installer doesn't work without a Workaround. - The current Controller Editor does no more Support the Kore Hardware. Unfortunately, there's nothing on the market that Comes Close to Kore2's possibilities/workflow, at least TO ME.
If you can stay with Komplete 8 or 9 and be content, Kore is a most powerful sound design tool for VST available. The browser is wonderful. Expect to invest time to LEARN kore, but the tutorial videos really help. The manual...pretty bad. Once things are going good, be content and don't change things like I recently did with Reaktor library locations etc. If NI marketing forces make you continually upgrade each year then Kore will be of less value to you. It seems to me currently NI wants you to believe that everything can be done in Maschine Studio and Komplete Kontrol so go buy both of them and toss out your DAW.
Hey Style, Kore sound morphing possibility is awesome , library is huge , with good preset quality.Keep in mind though lots of the expansion packs added life to Kore not sure what are you getting included because those packs are discontinued. Especially the effect ones that contribute to the morphing part. My advice considering the new OS systems nowadays if you accept that you will have to deal with few glitches here and there and try to work it out then go for it. I am running it on Yosemite .There are few reports where some people couldnt get it to work with Yosemite so if you can try it first before you buy then go for it. Also dont forget the controller is the cool fun factor of this beast !
Crap, I went back to the store and realized that It is Kore 2 UPDATE for registered users only....Do I have to buy Kore ( 1) if I want to use the update ? In that case, that make the deal not so interesting after all
Yes you will need Kore 1 for the update. No worries , I would say you are pretty much all set with Machine , I dont think you need Kore .Machine covered most of its sounds if you have some of the NI instruments you should be good. You can achieve same results in different workflow . I really wish they add the morphing page to Maschine VST . Aside from the effects section a morphing auditor like Kore 2 or Orb from Omni for example how cool would that be ! Maybe the the next update !!!!!! Come on NI dont keep us waiting long
You will not be able to install kore 2 update without having kore 1 installed in the system ! Hardware comes only with the full software not the update !
But Maschine doesn't allow you to create your own templates for controlling plugins. You have to stick with whatever NI have set up - assuming it's even a plugin they have mapped. Plus no batch import of presets and no preset manager.
Kore 2 is one of my favorite programs, I use it as a VST hub, sound design tool and librarian. I can find all my sounds and effects (not just NI stuff) in a few clicks by selecting tags in the browser. There's a batch tag editor etc. It's the only way to avoid the crippled browsing systems of Absynth, FM8, K5, Kontrol & Massive.
Sometimes people sell their Kore 1 license. If you have the licenses you can download & register Kore 1.1, it'll work without the controller and then you can install the update. You can get Kore 2 second hand.
Quick question : I never used Kore , but is the new Morphing fonction for JAM something similar to the Morphing Under Kore ? Or it is totally different ?
Similar enough to have almost tempted me to get one before I found out it doesn't support aftertouch. However it's still behind in one respect, it's just a linear morph between 2 states, Kore has 8 point morphing with 8 variations and scope there for much more complex patches.
