I vote yes, I would love to be able to use VST and VSTi plugs inside reaktor... it doesn't seem like it would be so hard, compared to all of the other stuff that Reaktor does. I love the EVP73 and I love all the low cpu reverb and delays.

    I second that!

Infinity does that and it IS nothing but cool.
Opens up way too many possibilities to even talk about...

Just use an external sequencer if you want to use VST!
Do you want to turn Reaktor, which is a pro-grade software, into a kiddie fruitypoops all-in one soft?
    Nahhhh

I wouldn't say it would turn reaktor into a toy, there is nothing kiddie about vst. I think it could greatly enhance the power of reaktor.

Using a sequencer doesnt quite give you the same flexibility afforded by being able to use plug-ins inside reaktor.

You would be able to control vst instruments with reaktor, add 3rd party fx etc to your ensembles, use reaktor for versatile plugin routing (like tc spark) easily and efficiently.

Then there is the fact that 3rd party developers could effectivly code new modules (like oskari tammelins buzz software).

I say yes in a big way.

would be great, but it needs to be stable.

turning reaktor to a vst host is surely problematic.
take a look at the big sequencers. i found a lot
of plugins that will seriously crash your computer
on several hosts, but not on all hosts.
but who makes the fault, is it the plugin or the host?
i think it is a compatibility issue of the host software.
take a look at logic and cubase. vst can be so damn different,
even when they tell you it is all the same.

so i would like vst plugs inside of reaktor, but only
if it is stable, working and bugfree.

the other thing is, that software can
grow too big easily and reaktor already is
a very complex piece of hightec code.

Yes! i second / third / fourth the concept whole heartedly.

I'd like to see Reaktor become more capable running standalone - I am greatly looking forward to reaktor session ( love to find out more info about it - do you have to actually connect up instruments? are all the instruments remade with proper inputs so its easy to connect them? etc )

I'd imagine that there could be a vst plugin thing used as part of the mixers.

why the heell would you want that?

    1. Want that crasy vst or vsti in reaktor? then freaking make it. :)

    2. Mmmm man you cant load that ensemble anymore because you lost that vst plugin. YUCK!

Think about it. Most vst and vst instruments suck anyway. ;P

    right timothy,

most vst-plugs suck and vst is pretty unstable sometimes.
some people found it working well, others don't.

in my case, i don't use vst very much, so i wouldn't use
it in reaktor either. but on the other hand some
plugins are working and sounding well.
so it would be cool, having those few plugs usable
in reaktor (thinking about cpu usage issues).

but anyway, it is definitely more important, having a stable
software and there is still a lot of work to do to
    archive this goal.

    best wishes

    A million reasons..

compiled VST plugs can achieve much lower CPU cost then assembled Reaktor instruments.

Also look at what you could use (just to name a few):

The Girl looper (play and record many loops live)
MAX/MSP integration into Reaktor (can do FFT-based stuff)
EVP73 modelled electric piano, which sounds just fantastic.
Spektral Delay (uses FFTs, cannot be built in Reaktor)

I happen to own three of these.

And I'll tell you what SUCKS, Trash... getting stuck with a 80% functional version of Reaktor and having payed 100% for it. :)

true... since getting seriously deep into reaktor (which has taken months and months) i dont actually ever bother using anything else now anyway...

Yep, VST sucks a load sometimes! But if you want Reaktor with some VST or VSTi, then why not build your own VST-chain? Use d-sound's RT-PlayerPro to have any combination you like in any VST-order you like. d-sound's RT-Player isn't really cool, but it works with most plugs.

Best of all: VST wouldn't affect Reaktor if something was running shitty. I too sometimes thought, hmm, it would be cool to have plugs in Battery, Reaktor etc., but then again, no, I really prefer them to be independent of Steinberg-sort of software...

Only pitfall: To have audio recorded with the chain-output you have to use your own routing or again have to run it all in a sequencer.

    Regards

ahem. Ya Battery- FM7 -Kontakt -S.Delay ... Well if they included the modules that would allow you to build the special pieces of these plugins then you wouldnt need them to start with. hmm.. Interactive Envelope Sample displays, Ramp/Slope shaper event table editing thingy, FFT (?!), etc..

    ;P
