Almost every day or every couple of days I come back into this forum hoping on news of a new Maschine DAW update. One that would bring it's VST back life and usability for many of us. Enough with the "workarounds". But it just doesn't seem like it's going to happen... Maschine seems to be dying off slowly as the focus shifts to samples, loops, and expansions. That's where the money is at anyways. I doubt they make much of the hardware. Is anyone else feeling like it's finally time to give up on the idea of a Maschine update?

it would not surprise me if a 2.5 update consisted of merely a free FM8 license & some Massive patches at this point

Remember, Maschine updates historically have occurred in the month of May so I wouldn't give up hope just yet. And we should all know by now that these type of speculation threads won't speed up the process and will just end up in an argument about whether Maschine is a DAW or if it has an audio sequencer.

I think I'm the biggest proponent here for a Maschine Daw Mode and I think its way too soon to give up on an update. NI has a great track record on developing their products in the main and I'm sure they are working on an update for Maschine. I also check everyday. It remains to be seen whether the next update will address DAW integration or if they just want to focus on standalone use going forward. Thats my main concern at this point. However I have no doubt an update will come at some point fairly soon.

The thing is, maschine 2.4, or even maschine 1.8 already make it a great instrument, and they are still as good as when they came out. I'm happy to use that until I get really old. Any update is just icing on the cake, really.

It's not coming out until they feel it meets their own standards or it's ready. Whether it be the fall or whatever. We all know NI will dominate when the sequencer get's fixed. That's like AKAI trying to compete with NI in the audio interface market.

'Great track record'? Seriously? The NI graveyard is littered with abandoned products - many of them innovative, many of them great-sounding and some of them both. I remember being convinced that a wonderful update was coming for Kore. NI killed it. A lot of the whines and demands coming from Maschine users are of a similar ilk to those that once came from Kore users. And the Maschine users used to laugh at at us for it.

This is true, I remember laughing. Funny when the shoe is on the other foot. I don't think they will discontinue Maschine in the near future though. But I somehow feel it has at least been brought up for discussion.

I hope it is NOT discontinued (though the schadenfruede feast would be huge :D). Though Maschine has never QUITE grabbed me, I would still like to see if it goes where so many seem to want it to go.

Don't give up guys. Far as I can tell from what other posters have said about NI abandoning Kore and other products, I don't see them leaving Maschine for the same fate. I also don't see them coming out with a new version of Maschine after such a short amount of time. Besides, the problem many of us have are not concerned with the hardware. I

Maschine is putting anything right now because marketing knows that they have to keep putting out something so that NI can try to milk more money out of people who get automatic email updates about new products. I don't know if you guys have been paying attention, but the products that have been coming out lately for NKS-related synths and Maschine related expansions have been really meh. Just look at the quality of the last three expansions as proof of this in comparison to even Dark Forest. Look at the graphics for the expansion images like Black Flag! To me, it's not because they are giving up, it's because they are actually really focused on the next big update for Maschine or Komplete 11 (though I think maschine has it's own team so I think it's the former) and all hands are on deck.

Have HOPE that this next update will be awesome. I have a feeling it will be, though not because NI is giving a flying f*** about us on this message board, fans and customers who know we deserve better. It's because NI knows and have known the sequencer sucks, but enough is enough now because AKAI and Push 2 are on right behind them and now they know they have to make changes. NI doesn't want to lose any more ground to them; I think they see that from what Push 2 is capable of inside of a full DAW, they know they have to do the same because people are just going to leave and go to Ableton and never come back. Ableton is a full DAW and you don't need Push 2 to use it completely. Push 2 enhances the experience. Maschine on the other hand, has limitations to it and is difficult to use on it's own without the hardware. I suspect that last part won't change but you get the point why people will leave Maschine. NI knows the risks they take by not making any changes.

IF.... after all this time of silence in terms of giving us a real update to something meaningful, and we get a really crap update on 2.5/3.0, then I would really start to be concerned. But don't be concerned about the future of Maschine. They have put alot of money into three completely unique Maschine hardware products and a software component AND a keyboard to boot. They are not going to abandon those products after all that R&D. Be concerned about how if we get a crap update, it will mean that NI doesn't care at all about current and future customers, because outside pressure from competitors like AKAI and Ableton wasn't enough to force them to make significant changes.... which means that NI really only care about acquiring new customers to hoodwink which is what some people think already anyways.

Have hope, and I think that NI is going to fix this. They better! (Not a threat, just wishful thinking)

The silence is really making people think that maschine is being discontinued. Jonas said it is not. I stand by the sequencer is being redone
maschine and push 2 are two different products.

I'm not trolling, but do you really think that NI (or for that matter, any other business) does not factor in what a competitor is doing when they make a decision? Maschine and Push 2 are totally different products (thank you, captain), but they serve a similar purpose and they are competing in the same market for essentially the same customer. It's pretty simple economics of competitors vying for market share. Whoever makes the better product will most likely have a larger proportion of it.

Don't think for a second that Maschine, AKAI, and Ableton are all staring at each other to see what each one is doing. It's obvious from how each successive version of each others products in some way has design similarities in some way.
