Show Off Your S8 Setup.

Here is my set up that I finished putting together last night.
Took a lot of good ideas from this forum page. Liked the Ikea Kallax idea for the underside storage but decided I wanted a more level deck area so I built a recessed worktop from MDF and vinyl wrap.

All equipment as listed.

Looks solid and clean! Love the monitor stands, how did you made them?

Monitor stands were made from galvanised pipe and some flanges. Loosely screwed together so I can rotate the monitor if needed. You could spray paint them I guess, but I liked the raw galvanised finish.

I bought 2 of these:

I cut some MDF and bolted it to the top flange for the monitors to sit on.

I refuse to show off a waste of $1200 thats only good for a bedroom or trashcan, Not taking it to live sets anymore with all the crash issues. NI word of advice GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE SAND DAMMIT!

 

That's weird man. Mine never crashes. Granted, using LINK with maschine and Traktor is about as stable as the old Ableton Bridge, which sucks, but the s8 and Traktor work 100% for me. Perhaps you have an issue with your computer?

 

Wondering why the pair of D2s plus the S8? Seems like a lot of overlap. I would prefer the D2 setup with a Z2 mixer, so it's modular and you'd have a better crossfader on the Z2 PLUS the usb hub... Then the s8 just alone. Only my 2cents tho.

Doesn't look as good as some of the other setups I've seen here, but it's mine.

 

Just upgraded my home studio from an A&H XONE DX, 2x F1s, Z1, and 2x Denon DN-S3700s to the S8 + Denon Setup. I had worked with stems under the F1s, but didnt really care much for them. Under the s8, im getting much more creative!

This box was built for my last mixer/gear and as the S8 is a bit larger, it is currently resting just under the top piece of wood. I am thinking about moving the mixer up an (under an inch) so that it is flush. This current setup feels like im typing with the wood top acting as a wrist-rest. Its a strange but interesting approach. Before i start carving, what are your thoughts? Should i move up the mixer?
