Why would you want to see the rating in the deck after you've loaded the track, just out of interest?

Maybe it's some new variation on harmonic mixing whereby you can string together a bunch of 1* rated choons and it sounds both harmonious and awesome.

after two people suggesting otherwise i tried to figure out why this feature could be at least nice to have. But before i disclose my thoughts i also like to hear SirComeAlot's rationale first.

Maybe it's me, but I would like to be able to have some info on the tracks when the are in the decks, playing 4 decks means there is hardly any browser info left at the bottom of the screen.

I think having 1 or 2 lines of assignable track info (you choose if you want rating/comment or something ese) would be helpfull.

You could for instance use 1 starred tracks for thier baselines, 3 stars for mids or vocals, 5 stars for highs/ fills whatever.

As for comments in decks, well say you wanna use part of a track for a texture sound to begin a break, info like: "loop 3 = moog texture sweep" in the deck would be nice..

    just my 2 cents

    Cheers

Hmm not sure about Ratings but i certainly agree about showing Comments.
You are aware that you can change which fields are shown in the Decks (just asking as your last post leads me to think otherwise).

Im not sure why you can show Catalogue Number because that has to be imho the least pointful field.

So ill give a +1 for comments.

Time for Rudi to disclose his reason now. Come on bro, spill.

Sometimes it turns out like this:
(Finally) I have the party crowd on the dance floor; and let’s even assume maybe I have just popped into a certain genre and start to say to myself “well this seems to work ! let’s play 2-3 tracks more of this Rudi…”.
But then this person shows up at my booth and asks “Do you have XYZ – Yes ? Oh - pleeeeaaaase can you play it? – It would perfectly fit now” – And as I don’t wanna loose my face (if it’s a boy), or behave disgraceful (if it’s a girl) I browse my collection and – strange enough – I find “XYZ”! (as I have 25.000 tracks on my collection). In the same moment I think “Ouhh – quite risky to play this XYZ just now” but (for reasons I still don’t fully understand) I then play it instantly, but as well immediately concentrate on playlists and ratings again to find a follow up – strong enough to “repair” any potential “damage” that could occur as a result of this spontaneous experiment.
But then quite frequently the following happens: People just get in an even better mood as they were already in, even more surprising: temperature on the floor increases exactly as suggested by the 3rd party – so I think to myself “Well Rudi – again one small lesson learned”.

    Now back to the issue:
The track “XYZ” (formerly just perceived as kind of “ballast”) comes into interest. First question is “How did I actually rated this dammed track? And why isn’t that one in any of my playlists?” As I explained before: my Browser, in this situation, points already elsewhere. Now this is even more important as it about time to realize what has just happened and to take advantage of it to find the next appropriate track according to the new situation. But to swiftly close the job of “XYZ” in this unexpected situation it would be “nice to have” to see the rating in the deck. And moreover and consequently – It would even be nicer if there would be a function to change rating of the track just playing via deck commands. And moreover to this it would be nice to see the Pop-Up with the list of Playlists this track is already in (without looking up the track in the collection). And moreover a function to drag and drop that running track on the deck into a playlist would be nice (maybe drag and drop from deck does even work today – I currently am not with my system to test it)

As I said all nice to haves (no musts)

    Implementation:
I could think of showing the stars as a kind of watermark on Top of the cover. It would then not even consume extra space (I fell in love with Beyonce already – to look at her in full bloom on the cover for 3-4 minutes would just deflect me from my job (and it would also hurt me a little bit ;-))

Right, I guess you could fill in the mix field and have that show, but it would be easier to just be able to select comments...

+ For comments in deck if one wants to (example: www.djnotation.org)

+ I wouldn't say no to ratings either if there was a good spot for them. Instead of hiding Beyonce with watermarks :( how about below Beyonce on left side of wavedisplay (opposite side from zoombuttons). If using smart playlists i woldn't feel the need for ratings in the browserlist but it would be nice still to change rating of a track on the fly while you're listening. 5 stars would be a bit tight and not so tranparent so maybe a number (1-5) that could be changed would work as well?

    very interesting didn't even know that such a thing exists (if i knew that only before i started growing my collection;
BTW: Looking to that it becomes also clear what a nice thing a waveform display really is.

But track rating next to wave is fine for me as well
