Skipping when tracks loading up

    Hi guys,

Newbie to the forum so go easy with me

I have an iPad Air 1 and for a while now it has been skipping when loading tracks up on one deck whilst the other track is playing.

It always happens when the waveform gets about 3 quarters of the way full and seems to do it more when recording and using the traktor headphone/master splitter cable.

It was doing it on iOS 8 and I updated last week to iOS 9 in the hope that this may cure it but it still does it.

Btw, I always put the iPad into flight mode and also ensure background app refresh is off.

It has spoilt my enjoyment of what is a great app. I was thinking of getting a z1 in a couple of months but it's putting me off tbh.

Anyone else having this issue or is it just me ?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Andy

thats excatly the bug i mean, when i write all the updates later then TDJ 1.6.1 are terrible.
I has same issue on all of my iPads, even on the iPad Air2/128 GB ... only a downgrade to TDJ to less the 1.6.2 helped to avoid
I am mad about same you

Glad I'm not the only one this is happening to. I noticed in the middle of a gig - such fun. The crowd didn't notice but I did and it really threw me.

I 'fixed' it by ensuring that my iPad was in airplane mode.

Have you guys got more than 1GB space left on your iPad? I would check how much you have in the system settings, not from what it says in iTunes. Mine says 2 totally different things i.e. I could have about 1.6GB showing as free on iTunes, but when I go to system settings on the device it may say I only have 854MB.
I did have this skipping issue a long time ago, but I haven't noticed it for months. I will note after having the problems I did a full wipe, master reset of the iPad and restored from backup. Any music & photos are added after the restore, so it cleans everything up.
I even kept quite a lot of my saved cue points, so I'm guessing the info for them is stored in the iTunes library file.

To be honest though, as good as the iPad is, I don't think iTunes is a great way of adding music for professional software. Apple should really sort it out and make it easier for people to add their own music, instead of pushing people towards buying from their store. It's just way too complicated and always has been. A few weeks ago I had to show my IT manager at work how to set his iTunes folders & playlists up properly, that's how bad it is.

Another thing I will say and this goes to NI if you are watching. I would gladly load my music direct into the app if that would make it run better and easier to sort out etc.
I am not bothered about my music being available from the apple music player or other apps.

can answer to my ipad only.I use an 128GB iPad Air2 (iOS 9.1), a lot free space, about 43 GB.
But doesn't matter ... even with such a free space, the 1.6.2 skips on lading track .. older TDJ Versions (1.6.1 and less) work well (1.5.2 works even on an iPad2 with less the 1GB free without skipping during track loading)

    Hi Guys,

I rarely post anything on these forums however I was encountering this same problem with the skipping when loading other tracks just like all of you above have.

Anyways, I THINK I found a solution (it's a simple solution, however it works for me everytime, I'm not sure if it will work for you too)

One thing I have to say is I only use the Traktor DJ App ALONE, with a pair of earphones and that's it. I do not connect it to any other hardware or equipment. I basically use it in my free time to test out which tracks flows nicely with another in my library, once I do the necessary, I go home, do the same with my Traktor S2 and Mac to complete my Mixes / Sessions.

Notes / Solutions that I realised concerning this skipping issue.

    - If the Apple Music app is open at the same time I use Traktor DJ, skipping as such always happens. Even when you close both apps and start again, skipping will persist.
    - One thing I also notice is, when I use the Traktor DJ app WITHOUT plugging in earphones to the jack, it works seamlessly HOWEVER, when I plug it in while the Traktor DJ app is open to continue, the skipping comes again.

So honestly this is what I did (Works 5 times already within the last 2 days), it seems so simple that its almost stupid but it works for me so I thought I'd share it.

    - Hard Reset your iOS device (lock + home button for 5-7 seconds or so)
    - Turn on the device again, do not open any other apps.
    - PLUG IN YOUR EARPHONES FIRST BEFORE OPENING THE TRAKTOR DJ APP (VERY IMPORTANT FOR SOME REASON)
    - Open the app, load ONE track only in the beginning, click play once the full waveform is loaded. THIS ALWAYS THEN PLAYS SEAMLESSLY WITHOUT ANY SKIPPING, after that.. just use the Traktor DJ app as normal.

Like I said, the solution I found seems so ridiculous and easy BUT IT WORKS FOR ME so perhaps give it a go. Please don't hate / banter if it does not work for you. (Best part is your cue points are still present)

FYI: Used to use an iPhone 6, then an iPhone 6S Plus WITH NO ISSUES AT ALL. I found the PLUS too big so I changed my phone to an iPhone 6S and this is where the problem started. Currently still using the iPhone 6S with the above solutions.

Hope it helps, please do try it and let me know if it works for iPads and other iOS devices as well as I'm simply just curious.

In my opinion, the most important thing is plugging in your earphones to the earphone jack before opening the Traktor DJ App.

    Good Luck!
