    Welcome =)

    Lead 800, the Lead 800 matched cab (if you're using GR3; otherwise the Lead 800 INIT if you're using GR2) and a CryBaby.

    Preamp around 8, bass around 7, mid around 4, treble and presence around 6. Master between 4 and 5. Boost in or out depending on...

    I find the Lead 800 works better if you soften up the bias a bit. Go to expert mode in the Lead 800 and turn the bias down to about 4 and the response to about 7.

    I've got a Slash/GnR patch in a bank that Marc and I were going to put in the library as a moderator bank for GR3. He's busy with other things, so it's fallen by the wayside for the moment; maybe I'll polish it up and put it up anyways.

    Here is a little idea of just what you are asking here:

    http://s4.invisionfree.com/Marshall_Law/index.php?showtopic=423

    Its a long read, but it is pretty interesting throughout and gives a fun look into the history behind the AOD sound you are looking for. The summarized version is that you are looking for S.I.R. amp #39 that was a highly modified rental around 1985 that has long since dissappeared.

    I don't think that it is possible to nail it, but I have been tweaking on and off for a few months now to get that tone down. I've got several presets that I have put together and while none of them are perfect each is close in its own special way.

    The main thing is that for most of his solos he is using the neck pickup with the tone rolled off. So in order to get a little hair on the upper frequencies I end up using everything from some EQ to a treble booster somewhere near the front of the rig. I also don't think that just one amp is going to get it so I always split between a Plexi and a JCM800 and try to get a combination of the two to get close. I also put a very short and dry delay at the end of one to add a little depth before it is mixed back together; real subtle.

    I just started a new one last night using the above settings from 'ew' as a starting point and I think that he has a lot of the initial color down, but it is more of a launching point IMHO. I put a frequency splitter in there this time and it isn't done, but it is probably the closest I've gotten so far.
