How do I slice each area to a different pad? Say I have a drum loop I created but want to use my slices in pad mode and not keyboard mode. The reason being, maybe I want to eq a snare differently than a kick or pan a hi hat, etc.

You could copy the whole loop to each pad and then cut it down on every pad line you need.

Hmm, that seems really time consuming. The Old MPC used to do this. I think that NI should add this feature. It's simply a mapping function

I think you can also send midi from the other pads to the first and save it as group then you could just load another sample in the sampler on the first pad slice it up and go. I will try later if this is possible.

Man thanx for the post i never found out how it works on maschine studio - you just have to press the apply button a and then you can select a group or pad where you want to put the slices - or maybe i missed it in the past i don´t use it that much

^ Is there a way to do this in the software itself? I just got a mikro mk3, and without the more limited hardware workflow "apply to group" isn't an option. I don't see anything like this in the software itself, but there's gotta be a way right?

    Hey climber_chris.

Yes, you can do that from the software too.

    1. Load or record a sample
    2. Open the "Slice" tab in the Sampler and create your slices

    Then there are two options:

    1. Apply: There is button in the lower right corner that reads "Apply" - this will populate the slices to the keyrange within one sound slot
    2. "4 Way Arrow Icon": This is actually the apply to group button. You click it, hold it and drag it onto a group. This will have the desired effect.

The UX is a bit unintuitive but it should work.
Let me know if this worked for you.

    Cheers

hi guys, quick question regarding this - when you send the slices to a new group - can you have it so they are automatically set to 0% velocity and ADSR, not one shot?
I have to change this for every slice overtime i slice a sample and its so time consuming.

You can set up your preferred Sampler settings and save it as default (module dropdown > Save As Default...), so that every subsequent loading of a Sampler uses these settings.

that's great to learn! BTW is there any reason there are no tooltips on those "apply" and "4 way arrow" icons? There are also 2 other icons a little higher, one seems to export audio and the other is unclear to me. A tooltip with some short explanation or name so I can look it up in the manual would be awesome and superhelpful!

    Can you do this? :

Already have sliced a sample and applied it to a group (lets say it's 4 slices, so still 12 Sound slots free)

Record a new sample. Slice that. apply it to the same group starting at the first open sound slot?

When I try this it just copies over the existing slices.

Nop. You can apply it to a new Group, select the 4 Pads, move to the other Group that already has samples, select Pad 4, Paste, the delete the extra Group.
Not the fastest thing in the world but works.

U can also use 'Multi' selection for all the Sounds with Samplers. Any parameter you modify also changes in all the selected samplers.

You can also right-click a Sampler with your most-used settings and "Save as Default", this way every time you make a Sampler it already has your settings.
