After reading this thread regarding problems the Windows tuning guide regarding latency I thought I'd be able to fix the issue I'm having, but I'm still having problems.

Basically I can hear a slightly noticeable delay between my headphones and the audio output coming through my PC. I figured it was something to do with latency but nothing I try seems to affect it. I don't get any popping or audio artifacts, changing the sample rate doesn't seem to make a difference, but the delay makes it very difficult to use Traktor Pro. I have the S4 ASIO option selected in audio setup. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

What is the output of your S4 connected to?

To my desktop PC via phono to minijack connection.

You need to connect the S4 output directly to your speakers to avoid delays.

Ah I see. I was hoping I could use my PC's 5.1 as the output. Time to invest in some active monitors?

This is a common issue also inherent to most home theatre amplifiers due to processing delays. On such external amps, it's usually possible to put them into a Thru mode with no processing which should reduce the delay, butive never seen this option on a PC sound card before. In any case, either connect your S4 directly to the speakers or do consider some active monitors. The investment is worthwhile and I stand by my mid level M-Audio BX5 D2 as great bang for buck, but there are plenty of options out there.

Ok thanks for the info guys. I was looking at the M-Audio monitors already so that makes me think I should definitely go for those!
