you may want to think about tweaking your system for dj use.

make sure everything is updated (drivers, software, operating system)
    disc clean up,
    defrag,
    uninstall any unused programmes,
turn off windows sidebar and aero themes,
    turn off all windows sounds,
disable any un necessary startup items (start > run > msconfig > startup),
remove any/all un necessary files and folders,
remove all desktop shortcuts (except recycle bin),
use plain background or low res wallpaper,
    turn off screen saver,
disable all windows animations and shadows,

remove any resource hogging antivirus and replace with avira and malware bytes then run full system scans to remove any malware/advare/rootkits/trojan gens etc that might be hiding (resource hogs= Norton, Symantec, Mcaffee, panda and several others that areless common).

    disable automatic updates.
get gamebooster, install it and setup any extra tweaks.
    disc clean up
    defrag

create a system restore point and turn off system restore.

    when mixing

    disable wireless and lan

you can also delete any unused fonts (these slow down startup a huge amount),
also set no GUI boot to increase boot time.

get an sd card and use it for ready boost ram (vista & 7) you can increase your system ram instantly, and the larger the card the better. the more you use ready boost the fatser your cpu will find indexed tasks.

    hope this helps
    john.

I use an external 2,5" HDD for my tracks.
sometimes the loading takes up to 5 seconds.

issue is not givven, if I go for internal HDD or external 3,5" HDD.

for me it is ok, I can life with the 5 seconds.

might be same case on your side? tested another track location?

the reason for the lagg on the 2.5" drive could be due tohdd speed, it might only be a 5400rpm you get best performance from 7200's

especially via usb. there is also a chance the 2.5" has an internal IDE drive and not a sataII

    slow load

thank you guys, i am using an ext hard drive 2.0 and it does take about 5 secs to load. my laptop is 7200rpm and i recently did a clean install of windows 7 and everything is running great except for the lag time in loading. anyway i will look at other options, again thank you all for all the advise and info.

I know. replace with 7200rpm 3,5" solve the issue, using internal drive (also 7200rpm) of course also.
but I like the small external drive as I use my home PC for gridding and playlist maintenance and it is without power supply.

as told, I can life with the 5 seconds...no problem.
I know the reason and it does not disturb me during a gig ;)
