i just bought maschine and battery (as a package deal for only $599) and maschine does in fact have a battery 3 template on it in midi control mode. however i have yet to figure why it's not actually triggering the pads lol! I was thinking the same thing as far as NI really almost has to step on it's own customers toes to make maschine or battery right now. i mean in order for maschine to really work the way they want it to be (which is an all in one solution) they would need to include battery 3 support, rex support, timestretching (wich battery 3 has over maschine) proper slicing, and a few other issues that battery 3 either has or should have. so it makes me wonder will NI actualy comethrough for the users and make maschine truely what they advertise it as? and if so what will they do for battery users?

this remind's me of when boos came out with the boss dr.202 groovebox and the sp-202 , which where made to be use aas one unit....on the flip side side i have seen battery become more and more like a software ver. of the MPC...right now i would say battery 3 is like the MPC 2000xl , and when battery 1 was out it was like the MPC 60 II (maybe 3000) . so , looking forward if i can judge right battery 4 would be like the MPC 2500 (maybe ) becouse the MPC 5000 is all in all NI Maschine .

battery 3 is def like an mpc without the sequencer, I'm lovin it. I'm new to battery, coming from an mpc 4000, and I love it. I haven't even cracked the manual, stuff is just so simple.

Plus it loads all my mpc kits both .akp and .pgm files! Yesssss......

I don't even know what else they can add in version 4, maybe some better slicing features for folks...but right now man this joint is killin as is.

What will NI do? I personally don't agree on under developing one product to cater to petty jealousy of customers of another product. They are both separate and should be developed to the best. Common sense says that Battery can't be sold with a controller and sequencer like Maschine. That would make the two products near identical. That would be crazy. I think NI should just upgrade the sample engine in Machine to have the sample edit of Battery. Including the new Kontakt 3.5 based engine. They should also add the new time stretch from Traktor.

Battery can continue to improve by adding sampling and improved time stretch along with new filters and effects. These things would make it better at what it was already designed to do. It was never meant to have a sequencer and since that would be a total conflict with selling Maschine, I don't see that as an option.

Another idea is to make Battery respond fully to the Maschine controller. I'm talking on the level that Maschine controls it's own software instead of the midi app. That way the two could work good together. This is granted Maschine ever gets full midi with cc support. If you own maschine you can use it to sequence Battery and just toggle the controller to Battery with full hands on control.

Still, both can be improved and still have some overlap. Those who want the controller and sequencer will get Maschine and NI will make it the best it can be instead of crippling features.

Battery would be for those who don't want or need the extra sequencing and controller along with the steeper price tag. Otherwise, both should be maximized at what they do.

This is from someone who is again a battery3 owner.

^^^ I agree man, push all products to the fullest lol..don't limit one because it may take a feature or two from another one.

they are still different products for different tasks

oh yeah...I have battery 3 as well...

shouldn't "righteous" have a "Self" in front rather than a "b"

I didn't aim that at you personally. Just think that they should not factor jealousy in when deciding features. There will always be someone asking "how come they got that"?

The features in one product can be used to enhance another. The exception is when that would step on the others toes. It would not have been nice if they just added the sequencer and controller for Battery. However, now that Maschine is out they can't duplicate it by making Battery the same. There is room to improve both without killing the other off.

The other option already mentioned is to give Maschine ALL of Batteries features and offer an attractive upgrade for Battery owners.

If they have decided to continue Battery then it should at least have all features related to drum sampling improved to the fullest. This includes sampling and slicing. Given Maschines bigger price tag, it should not have to yield upgrades to justify selling Battery. No reason it should not have full drum edit and sampling features since all those are relevant for the product.

I'd be a happy customer if it were possible to at least load battery kits. I have komplete and maschine (there's a cool vid demonstrating the capabilities of that combo, but I don't have it bookmarked), but I don't want to use kore yet since it's bit of a power hog and I need that cpu power for other stuff...
