Just recently purchased Traktor Scratch Duo and it was working fine for the first few days but now every time I turn it on all the songs have this crackling noise that doesnt seem to go away.

I was going through some threads on this but was just reading a bunch of posts about people complaining but couldn't find any solutions.

So is there a solution to this problem?

    Thanks,

    John

You'll need to post your system specs and operating system. Also, google optimising whatever O.S you have for audio. There is advice on here also.

In case you're using timecode control (assuming this based on you saying you have Traktor Scratch Duo) and keylock enabled, you should set the keylock to Eco (instead of HiQ) because the current version still has some problems with HiQ mode during timecode control (HiQ works pretty well during internal playback, though) - this will supposedly be fixed in the next release by the implementation of a better key correction algorithm.

Make sure your laptop's power settings are set to 'High Performance' and not 'Power Saving'.

It sounds like something changed with your settings. Either system or Traktor. Make sure you are selecting the correct Audio 4 DJ in the settings. My PC lists two: one with the correct driver and one with the generic driver (sounds like poo)

As long as it worked, right?

This should be in the NI knowledge base:

Q: How do I solve pops and clicks in my audio?

    A: Switch up a bunch of sh1t.

to further Rasmuffin's comment...Everyone in this post made an effort to find an answer to your problem and refer you (Bulll_Dozer) to other posts...So it would be nice and courteous of you to share what you did instead of "Switch up a bunch of sh$%$^"

    Alright....

    I went through:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/kn...28Windows% 29

    http://www.native-instruments.com/kn...dio+processing

and made all the suggested changes. From what I remember I still heard the crackling after making the changes. I also changed the latency; I think I had accidentally changed it before and this may have been the root of the problem. I guess I had it set to 1.5 ms, and then I changed it to 7.5 ms and then the crackling went away. And I also made sure my power setting was on high performance as opposed to power saver.

I dont know exactly what to problem was though, I dont think it was just the latency .... heres what happened: I was using TSD normally and everythign was working fine. Then I just had my laptop with me and wanted to do some internal mixing (no soundcard or anythign, just my laptop with headpones plugged into the headphone jack of the laptop). So I had to change the 'Audio device' in the 'Audio Setup' menu in preferences. When I started to play some tracks they were all crackling. Then when I got back to my cdj/external mixer setup and changed the audio device back to the audio 4 I still heard the crackling. This is where I think I set the latency to 1.5 ms... just to screw around with some stuff to see if anythign would make the crackling go away.

Then I made all the suggested changes in those links and also changed the latency to 7.5 ms and now everything works fine...

1.5 ms is too low for most systems. When you switched back to your external card, Traktor would change the latency from what you had previously (in my experience my Audio 8 and 4 are switched to 4ms after changing from the internal soundcard.) That probably was the whole problem.

The thing is.... I was using 10 ms latency with the audio 4, then I used traktor without the audio 4... I had to change the audio device.... (hadnt yet changed the latency), but this is where I first experienced the crackling audio. Then I hooked the audio 4 up again (still with 10 ms latency) and the crackling continued. I then changed the latency to 1.5 ms just because I was experimenting with different settings to try to solve the problem....

I know 1.5 ms latency is waaaay too low and definitiely added to the problem but I am not sure that it was the main cause of the problem.
