I loaded an older project after I updated my 2.0 plugin paths to be the same as my previous maschine version and I got this:

"Could not load 1 or more plug-ins!" with just an "ok" button. but its not ok when i press it

So, how do I know which plugin could not be loaded?

I am not sure if there is a 'missing plugin' placeholder on sounds, groups, or master..
Does anyone know about a log file or anything I can use to hunt down the culprit?
Thanks for any help or a pointer to an answer already posted (couldn't find anything when searching for the message text

If you go into the mixer view and toggle the plugin display on the left, if you go through the groups at SOUND > GROUP level and then also check the GROUP > MASTER level, any missing plugins will be in (brackets). In this example, it's Sylenth (which is 32bit only and I now run Maschine in 64bit).

2.0 "Could not load 1 or more plug-ins!" (RESOLVED for me, at least)

Here's how I fixed the "missing stuff" problems on my install (Maschine 2.0 + Maschine Studio, Windows 8.1 64-bit)

First Problem / Solution: some *samples* for maschine 2.0 weren't loading! I was suspicious about this because i got a couple of file warnings when installing the maschine 2.0 library, so i reinstalled the maschine 2.0 lib from the download version. Fixed it.

Second Problem / Solution: the icon placed on my desktop by default was for Maschine 2/32 bit; i never run anything in 32 bit anymore, and I don't install the 32-bit version of plugins when I can avoid it. So I made sure I'm loading only the 64 bit version. That doubtless fixed some problems I had not yet encountered, but did not address the "could not load..." problem.

Third Problem: "Could not load ..." message is coming up on Drop Squad and other NI-generated projects, AFTER i had installed all the updates. Under "Preferences/Plug-ins" Maschine only points to some default directories under Program Files (on Windows) - it is not aware of the directories I have all my NI plug-ins loaded to. So I change the path to point to these (in my case C:\VstPlugins64) and got rid of the others. That fixed the remaining problems I have seen.

I am having the same problem in Maschine 2.0 (Windows 7 version). So far nothing I have done has helped. I have Komplete 9 along with a ton of other NI products and expansions, etc. But most of them are not working in Maschine 2.0. I can see them in the list of "instruments" etc (although the nice images are missing and replaced with just a generic icon). All the presets show up, but when I try to actually load one I get the "Could not load one or more plugins" followed by "could not load slot" message. I checked under Preferences > plugins and the locations are currently correct. I did a rescan, but nothing shows up in the list under preferences.

I suspect some of this is caused by the 30 or so updates I had to apply to my NI products before installing maschine 2.0 (as recommended from the web site). Almost all of the installers got the path wrong when installing my updated products. E.g. the installer said it would install the 64-bit VSTs to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2, but then proceeded to put them somewhere else. Also, the maschine installer itself created a non-working short cut for the maschine executable. I tried to correct these problems manually, and have been able to get the plugins to work standalone and as VSTs in my DAW. But as far as maschine 2.0 is concerned my system is hosed.

I am going to uninstall maschine 2.0 and try to reinstall. I really hope that somehow fixes things, because it will be a giant pain in the a-hole if I have to reinstall my 75+ NI products. Any suggestions greatly appreciated...

[Edit: I uninstalled / reinstalled Maschine but with no luck. Attached are some screenshots to clarify...]

I had to go into plugin paths and also library paths and repoint maschine 2.0 to sample directories, I was getting
(Cannot load 1 or more plugins) For eg.KONTACT the a bit of messin around in this area fixed all my problems sweet now.
Centainly not a straight forward upgrade. But now its working Rockin it on a MK2 Controller.
Please NI, Your update/upgrade processes are not user friendly.
    Thanks

thanks, blindmosquito. I didn't realize you could also change the libraries. but you can by double-clicking on them.

I tried changing library path for Absynth 5.0. So far still no luck. Maybe I can try some more tomorrow. Sick of this b.s. for now...

by the way... I am still having this problem and still have not found any solutions. I did read one post where someone suggested that many people's problems loading plugins were "user error", but that seems like a cynical view and I don't think it's the case for me at least.

So essentially Maschine 2.0 is unusable for me at this point; good thing I still have 1.8.

Hopefully they will release an update soon. Or I guess I could try to get my money back.

Djork - did you run all of your Komplete plugins in Standalone Mode after updating?

    Hi Sowari,

I've tried all the major ones, at least: Battery 4, Massive, Absynth, Reaktor, FM8, Kontakt. They all run fine standalone. But in Maschine 2.0 they don't work (could not load plugin / missing slot error message) and they have generic thumbnails in the instrument browser.

Don't if if it's the same problem but I received the same error message.

I just went to preferences and told machine where my vst plugin folder was, now it works great.

You may be trying to open a 64 bit Kontakt for instance inside the 32 bit Maschine version or vice verse. Launch the appropriate Maschine icon application. The 64 bit version is listed as Maschine 64 bit mode.

If that is not it, the installer for Maschine has dialogs for you to direct it where to go. Same for the NI Komplete updates. You may have the updates for you Komplete synths installed to a different path than Maschine is looking for them. This can be fixed by taking a very careful look at your locations tab in Maschines plug-in preferences. Take exact note of the paths listed there.

Rerun your update installers for Kontakt, Reaktor, Massive etc. and pay closer attention to the paths they want to target. In some of the recent installers they had flipped it to where 32 bit was on top or vice verse so pay close attention to the destination targets in the installers. I know you have done so but open each of these again in stand alone after rerunning the update.

Next launch Maschine stand alone and adjust the paths it is looking for you VST's if necessary. This should cure it so long as you launch the correct bit version of Maschine.

Thanks, b-righteous. I tried your suggestions but without success.

It doesn't matter if I use 64-bit or 32-bit Maschine, I still have the same problems. I have double-checked all paths, reinstalled the latest FM8 update, opened FM8 standalone, and then opened Maschine, but the FM8 synth is still missing.

Also, as happened with my previous attempts, the update installer for FM8 failed to copy the 64-bit DLL to the path I chose during the install. It might have stuck it somewhere else, but I can't find it at the moment.

I have attached some screen shots and notes from my reinstall attempt in case you can see something that looks wrong.
