    Hi,

I've found a few bugs from the latest Kontakt windows version..

I've noticed that sometimes when you open Kontakt as part of session in Cubase SX 2 the start/endpoints of the samples (especially if they've been modified) are totally messed up.

What's weird here is that when I close the session and re-open it, the start/endpoints are usually correct again. This bug seems to happen totally randomly. This has never happened to me on 1.2.1.

This may be related to the same thing, but a friend of mine reported that within a few hours of active Kontakt use the sample start/endpoints start to "float" around.

He had noticed this when he was editing a techno kick drum with three layers, each with fine-tuned sample start points. After three or four hours the kick suddenly started to sound "different", due to moved start point (causing phase cancellation), without even touching that Kontakt patch during that edit (according to his words, at least). And he told me this happens all the time (not just once).

    Any thoughts?

    regards,
    sami

Hello sami, never had this happen, but developed the habit long ago in atari/akai days of frequently (wife says 'obsessively'!) saving all presets, programs, multis etc., so in Kontakt I save each separate nki file and the nkm, patches only(as samples are stored elsewhere) in adedicated folder within the cubase project folder, every time I can ie at least every 10 mins or so. That way, if something does 'drift', or I alter something and regret it, Ijust reload the nki....
    Hope this helps,
    all the best

One more weird one that wasn't present in 1.2.1 When you have Kontakt open as well as your arrange window (I'm using VST/32 still, have SX2 but not sure about making the move =) when you make any changes in Kontakt, you lose 'control' over your transport bar. It seems that Kontakt 'takes over' and is now a separate program. Don't really know how to explain this, but initially in 1.2.1, for example, when kontakt was open, I could still control VST/32 with whatever keyboard shortcuts I had. Now if Kontakt is open and is the 'active' window, I lose control over everything else till I manually click somewhere else in the Cubase. Anyone else get this?

    Hi,

I've actually saved the patch, and as I said, this happens totally randomly. The weird thing is that if I close cubase (without saving) and reload the song again the start/endpoints either may or may not be working correctly again?!?! Weird?

One thing I found out while researching this is that for some reason the peak image files were not up to date with the actual waveform data (I don't remember if I've edited one of the samples in sound forge), but in any case I suppose Kontakt should check if the wave file lenght and the peak image file size match each other.

    best regards,
    sami

Yeah, I get this in VST too. It does not happen in SX, I just tried it.

Btw, I also have bought SX2, but am still using VST!

SX is a much better programme, but I know VST like the back of my hand and can work very fast...

But I will go over to SX; eventually... :)

    Cheers,

Merry Xmas Sami - update to last post - yes, see what you mean, hadn't realised before that theis 'kontakt-taking over-SX1.03-open-window' problem was happening, assumed it was a fleeting thing but now I realise this is the case! If Kontakt is open and is the window 'with focus' ie the active window then none of the keyboard shortcuts/transport commands work for me either! Very minor bug but actually quite annoying when trying to tweak a parameter on the fly!! Must remember to make a New Year's resolution to b e more observant!! Trouble is, if you're not careful you end up spending way too much time noting bugs, updating software versions etc instead of writing/recording music!! all the best,
