    Hi everybody,

I want to clarify some aspects regarding Kore 1 and Kore 2, in order to answer questions I have seen coming up here in the last few days.

    General aspects:

Changes in the Kore 2 hardware compared to first model:
    • no audio interface
    • lighter and slightly smaller
    • layout and tactile feel of buttons improved
    • USB cable hook
    • support for kensington lock

I hope this clears these things up. If you have additional questions, just post them here!

Also, this posting might be updated with additional information, so check back once in a while.

    Regards, Thomas

Re: Some answers regarding Kore 1 and Kore 2

So if I buy the Komplete 4 package with KORE 1, will I be able to get a free upgrade to KORE 2 software?

I do really like the I/O's on the KORE 1. A MUST for me.

And, if I upgrade to Kore 2 software only, I AM going to be able to still use the "Soundcard" (audio outs) portion of the original kore controller right?
Right now Im using Kore 1 as my main audio interface.

Yes, if you activate Kore 1 after April 1st, you get a free update to the Kore 2 software.

Hi - thanks for the clarifications. There's a logo where the screen used to be on KORE - is the screen gone too or does it just show a logo when not doing anything (or has it moved - I wondered about strips next to each knob)??

One more thing. I notice there is a transport panel still. Is this going to work fully in the new version? (i.e. record as well as "play"). It's been a promised feature in a "future update" since KORE came out - to have to purchase an update to get it working is in itself rather off but to purchase an update to then get another "promise" of it working in a "future update" would be absurd.

Sorry to post here, but the other thread regarding the update conditions is closed. Just two questions:
1)If we buy a full upgrade can we keep the Kore 1 Controller? Will it still be usable?
2)Is there a grace period for Kore1 users? You wrote "Yes, if you activate Kore 1 after April 1st, you get a free update to the Kore 2 software." But there is no official announcement in the other thread. Thanks.

The Kore 2 controller has the same display screen in the same place as the first Kore controller. See the enclosed picture for the top view.

I cannot say right now whether the record button will serve a purpose from Kore 2.0 on. In general, the transport buttons were included on the hardware to keep the concept open for the addition of related software functionality. For sure it's better to have a dedicated recording button on the controller that sits unused at first, than having a recording function in a future software version without a controller button to operate it.

You will be able to keep the Kore 1 controller, and it will still be fully usable.

Yes, the grace period with the free update is valid for all Kore 1 units registered after April 1st.

True - I hadn't looked at it that way. Nice to get some quick and honest responses anyway :)

And the upgrade pricing is very reasonable.

    thanks

For those who feel that they have already spent enough on Kore 1, will NI continue to work to eradicate its existing bugs? I.E. will there be a 1.2 version?

Does the KORE 2 software move away from the purpose of being a database and control center for other NI instruments such as B4II, Akoustik Piano, etc. It seems that K2 is being advertised as more of a "super instrument" and thus moving away in part from its original vision as a database for all your instruments. I like the idea of integrating the audio engines, but it's a little vague what this means for the editing functionality of other instruments. Will the user still have access to the standard interfaces of the plugins for editing?

...I can only guess, but to me it doesn't look like Kore 2 will be moving away from the original concept - moreover the import of presets and the handling of the database seems to be improved. About the incorporated audio engines - I think it's because to attract customers that don't have Komplete. I would expect that you can edit your instruments as usual if you have the full version installed. For people without these (in my case Massive) I would guess, that you are able to tweak some selected parameters only, but not the whole instrument - in a way like Analog Factory from Arturia.

Can anyone from NI confirm this?

Yes, perhaps. However, there was nothing on the box that said...

    super-terrific nonfunctional buttons!

In fact, the implied transport control was one of the factors that made me purchase kore.

    Thomas,

The upgrade pricing seems great For owners of komplete and kore especially $59 is very reasonable, however I am feelin a bit... well...
$399 a savings of $50 cool! but then go to audiomidi.com or anywhere else for that matter and its $399 there as well Plus you get another FULL license!
I want to buy the full deal to be sure i get all the functionality and I have that $180 dollar coupon code and want to use it but i don't think that seems like a good deal to me as i can get it new for $399 why is the "upgrade" $399 as well? I think it would be much more fair to do $349 do you agree?

I swear I am not trying to be mean in anyway I just really would like NI to consider this.

    cheers,
    Kendrick

Thanks for communicate with us (user) before the release of a new product. I think that’s the right way.

I don’t understand why the update for komplete user is only available for two month. For me it’s not a Problem, but maybe some user are on holyday or didn’t read the NI news any time or some thing else.

What does full update mean? Does it mean that Kore 1 owners can get another Kontroller and keep their old one?

    Hi Thomas,

I think what I would see as most important is if Kore 1 software has finished its development cycle?

Will there be any more releases of the Kore version 1 software?

    Thanks

    Andy
