it is 99 us, no vat... this is like £63... i would say do the proxy thing but i remember reading that the license can only be used in the region it is sold for. so i am not sure how that would work for your account.. but once you load the dongle... you can use it anywhere...

Yep, and unfortunately that foes for users as well. Windows will be doing this soon though MS cares more about backwards compatibility than Apple does but either way it's happening folks get used to it. Get used to renting your software (Autodesk and Adobe already do that). It's a trend right now and it's snowballing unfortunately.

the subscription to adobe software is a complete deal over buying the entire suites, especially for students, as the annual update costs on the suites exceed the annual subscription rate and the option to buy is there still. that will probably not be the case with others on that route. ms supported xp for 14 years with service updates... that is beyond expected.. apple stops support after 6 - 9 months as soon as the next OS is still pretty much alpha...

I gotta say watch out for Steinberg. I really like their instruments. Halionsonic 2 smokes any synth in Komplete 10 ultimate imo. I feel padshop pro is inspiring. Check out granular synphonies. Very inspiring.... Retrologue and more. Groove Agent 4 is great. They just need to work on the workflow of it. It's a steep learning curve. The drum sounds are very inspiring. I see a groove agent ipad app on the horizon. That can rival imaschine! Halion 5 can give kontakt a run in the future maybe. How about some yamaha halion libraries!

Anyway, cubase 8 looks good. I don't care if they take stuff from studio one. Just keep improving the workflow. Since being bought by yamaha I like that their everywhere online. I forgot his name it's G.N. He is on every forum lol.

i plan on grabbing the vst instrument suite... cannot pass up the offer to cubase users and the deal for the update to hal 5.... i have halion 3.... have not tried 5 yet... in 3 they locked the samples you made or exported to the serial number of the dongle in halion, so i stopped using it as i could not import the files into kontakt anymore or use the samples with another persons halion or share my samples. imo overall komtakt is better for workflow and multi's, but hallion is much easier to build your own samples sets on. i like the cubase 8, despite the changes, is still like cubase sx and vst in the menus so if you have been using it awhile.. the updates are wary and you just enjoy the new features...

i meant in regards to updates.. they stop issuing bug fixes and other issues... sometime there are security updates or hardware updates for the recent OS's, but that pretty much stops as soon as the next on is released and it usually is for an app like safari, not the OS.. the final update for 10.9 was in august. now you are expected to update to 10.10 as the is what the app store promotes... 10.9 is over.. there is good and bad to that... good is keeps you current and it is free, the bad is if you have a mission critical app that is not compatible with the new update and there is a bug in the previous OS that was and will never be fixed... i can see the logic with just pushing on, but at the same time i have been the person with the mission critical app that is not happy with the update... so imo a balance should be there within reason of both progress and compatibility... and in all fairness, time machine does let you go back if you did not clone the OS prior..

well that's standard software development. anything less then the current version only gets critical updates.

i suppose i see the logic that an OS should be finished before releasing the next one.. . like i say there are equal pros and cons to it. why is there no 10.9.6.. 10.9.7... etc.. does not mean 10.10 is really 10.9.6...

if your buying halion 5 then dont buy halionsonic 2 ..halionsonic 2 comes bundled in halion 5 now.
ive been using Cubase since it first started on the Atari and I love it,ive not upgraded to Cubase 8 yet because I know later next year 8.5 will come out and if I time it right they do a sale in summer so I should get it very cheap then plus a lot of bugs will be ironed out by then.i got stung with Cubase 7 I bought it the day it came out and it was buggy as hell it was so bad I gave up and worked with version 6 until some of the project killing bugs got fixed..after that I decided to wait now until I update.
I gotta agree skin Steinberg have upped there game with there plugins retrologue beats monark and padshop is great too one of my favourites in Cubase 7.5 are magneto 2 and vintage compressor both of those are amazing, they use little to no cpu but pack a big punch .as does the new amp suite and groove agent 4 ..halion sonic 2 is basically now another name for motif you get a lot of the sounds from the Yamaha motif and now hs2 comes with its own built in plugins such as an organ and analogue synth (which kicks ass at acid sounds) I bought all there expansions too such as dark planet (one scary synth) and hypnotic dance (which is really good for trance)
I highly recommend everyone to get Cubase 7.5 or above also maschine integrates really well into Cubase especially maschine 1.8 I feel 1.8 works better and has a faster workflow within Cubase than 2.2

I love my maschine studio and komplete 9 ultimate the only thing i havnt done this year is blindly pay the 399 for the upgrade to 10 ultimate i think its a littlle too much in the economic climate as i know next year they will release another.

because and for some reason there is no upgrade price from halion 3 to halion 5.... maybe they forgot it and it is the same as 4.. i have to ask them.. but if i have to go full on it, it actually costs the same for me to buy the bundle that comes with halion sonic and then do the upgrade offer to hal 5.... and i get the other things like the hypnotic dance, dark planet, retro, padshop pro... sounds.... so i get a better deal with the bundle and offer... http://www.steinberg.net/en/shop/buy_product/product/absolute-vst-instrument-collection.html unless they hook me up with an update rate for h3 to h5.... hope they do as i picked up hal 3 only about a year before h4 came out...

yes they do have deals on it before the new version is coming out.... i was still using cubase 4 on mac with 10.7 and i picked up the full version of .75 with free to 8 for the same cost as the update from 4 - 8... so i got a second license and dongle now... actually i have 3 licenses and dongles now..

I tried it, it is nice.... but it took me long to create a fat beat. The engines are not designed for beats, but normal synth engines they have in their other synths. That's why I went for Elektron.
But yes, Dave Smith creates nice (very nice) synths. The pads are better than the elektron pads.

Yeah just get the Collection. From their when you get the absolute collection it's a $99.99 to upgrade to Halion 5. Groove Agent is getting midi out soon and more. Their is an update coming. I think you will probably see yourself grabbing this collection more than komplete.
